Accidentally upgraded weapon
I did not know what would happen if I purchased an exotic shard with strange coins to upgrade my Thorn, so I just went ahead and did it hoping it would just complete the rest of my perks. Instead, it reset everything. I really don't know what to do at this point other than loath the game an my lack of friends to help me with this kind of knowledge. I tried looking it up online, but people's explanations didn't make sense. It would be amazing if Bungie compensated the misunderstanding or if somebody could help me.

The reason why exotic shards exist is because all the exotic weapons from before the dark below (max 300 attack) it made them go up to 331 attack so you wouldn't have to get them all over again.

1 ReplyYeah Im not sure why its set up to allow you to update a piece of gear when you don't need to. This week I looked and my Last Word was lit like I could upgrade it (its already upgraded). i have a couple of exotic shards so if Id upgraded it yet again it would've reset everything Last Word. Makes no sense. Once gear is maxed, to avoid unnecessary mistakes, it shouldn't even allow you to waste a shard. This is the crap Bungie needs to look at, not what gear they're gonna nerf this week.

1 ReplyWhen you buy the upgrade from xur using an exotic shard then it is supposed to turn an exotic weapon from before the dark below dlc that is maxed at 300 damage to a post dlc version maxed at 331 but yes it does reset the perks also so if you got your guns post dlc then those upgrades are useless to you

Edited by MAMGRIZZLY: 3/28/2015 10:26:12 AMI would suggest joining a Clan, try to make sure they're CURRENTLY active. Maybe click on their Clan page and see if they have some current posts. Many Clans use their chat wall or another APP to communicate, so if you're not sure just ask them. Don't just join a big Clan without making sure a lot of them are on your console.

9 RepliesIt was 300 and now 331 ? If you upgrade the weapon at xur what u did, it resets the weapon. So do bounty's and lvl your weapon again

Before the dlc the max damage an exotic would do is 300, when the dlc landed all that changed to 331, the upgrade is to allow players to upgrade 300 weapons to 331 not to get rewards without effort.
