--Archaeus-- To the Ground Below/ Chapter 1

--Archaeus-- To the Ground Below Chapter 1 - A New World \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Living in these times were tough. A giant alien war occurring on Earth and beyond, and here we are, all forced to watch and endure it. Not to mention the fact that the land masses of Earth were completely mangled and destroyed due to the Alphas digging up their war machines. What was left of humanity by this time formed little splinter groups working towards a worldwide effort to stay alive and combat these things should they attack us. The governments of the world disbanded long ago. Hell, the President of the United States was even killed in the crash of a large Alpha ship, months ago. For months, we've been sitting here, watching the fight. All, guarding what we still hold precious to us. We've held strong for a long time, keeping silent, backed in a corner with barely anything to hold to our names. But it's slowly been breaking. Our silence. Our neutrality. I am a Sergeant of what is part of the remainder of the U.S. Marine Corps. The entirety of the 2nd Battalion, which I was in, took to making this airfield we called Hadenburg Airfield, named after General Mavis Hadenburg. We've been here ever since the Alphas and the Betas began fighting on our planet. Luckily, our military developed a new fighter jet before this great collapse of our civilization, which was known as the VF-11. These things were the fastest of any jet made to the current time, and packed more firepower. They had slightly less armor plating then the old ones, making them take less damage, but made up for it with their supreme speed and evasive maneuvering capabilities. If we ever enter combat with these things aliens, we'll be ready. My stationed at the airfield was a small hut, nestled inside of the foliage on a hillside just outside of the airfield, monitoring the airspace around it and just general surveillance. Nothing much happened though. Most of the time I found myself asleep in my chair, being awoken to false warnings from my computer system. Well, they WERE false warnings... Until recently...
