My revised weapons system

There are 20 or so broad weapon classes or 'templates', with the gaps being filled by dividing the current classes further: broadly speaking, Auto rifles could be split into High RoF with medium impact but low stability, Medium RoF with high stability but low impact and Low-ish ROF but medium stability and high impact (relatively). Then you start the game with three of these weapon templates in your three different slots. You start with the lowest tier of these individual templates, but you level up this same weapon template with better and better tiers of weapons, i.e. you keep the same gun design (high RoF auto rifle), but you increase the stats of the gun and give the gun better perks as you level it from white to green to blue to purple to red (level bridging gap between legendary and exotic) to gold. Also, you can customise the look, colour, decor, sights, etc. as it levels up, perhaps having all the coolest looking colour combos and decorations reserved for the later levels. The progression is perfectly auxiliary, with all the missions and bounties going towards the levelling up of the weapon. You would never feel like time was wasted levelling up the weapon, as it won't be replaced by another weapon that you have to level up all over again, and you would also have a more personal connection to the weapon, it growing in strength with you, side by side, like friends. Also, it means you get to choose what weapon class you use and progress through the game with, and thus not having to use a pulse rifle because it's your only legendary. BTW: you would have to purchase the 17 or so other weapon templates from the gunsmith and level them up separately. This system is a whole lot less confusing or random, and involves a lot more meaningful progression. What do you think? Edit: I'm not saying BUNGIE IMPLEMENT THESE CHANGES THIS VERY SECOND OR I QUIT YOU LAZY beep beep beeeeeep. In fact, I could probably wait til Destiny 2 or 3. It's just a suggestion that I think would improve the game.

  • I think it's awesome but overhauling a whole new system now will not be beneficial to anyone. It should happen in a completely different game lol.

    • what happens if you want to change the weapon? like the sights, if you accidently click one or if you want to change it later. are you allowed to or is it a perm change?

      • 100%. I like the way you put this. I can't really remember anyone putting it quite like this over the last six months (I'm sure something close came up at least once) but I wish people like you, me, and a few other people with good ideas worked at bungie instead of the stupid monkeys that bang on the keyboards now.
