Why do I die so quickly?
Feel like I empty a whole magazine into someone's upper chest/head and then they just turn around and 3 hit me far too often.
level 29 Warlock. Tried changing my stats so that my armor was as high as possible - no change.
I use a Vanquisher VIII.
Does everyone else find that Warlocks die quickly?

Vanquisher is a good auto rifle but it's still an auto rifle so you're going to be handicapped

Have you ascended your vanquisher? I've ascended mine and it just eats away someone's shield and health especially with head and chest shots. As for your stats, I recommend (for crucible) to focus on armor and agility because impact resistance will keep you out of trouble more effectively than recovery. Also try crouching and such to discombobulate enemies :D

Had a few arrogant keyboard warriors telling me to get better because they take gaming too seriously and most likely lack any form of social life in the real world, but overall most of you gave great help! Most common response was that the assault rifles have been nerfed so I should look for a different primary weapon. Thanks again and see you online ;) Xbox one gamer tag is N3wie.

If you are not hitting headshots with your AR you are going to lose most battles as you will need to land 10-11 shots to kill. Compare that with 2 headshots with thorn or 2-3 bursts with red death. Also never stand still and keep strafing make them work for kills 😆

In the non-Iron Banner Crucible the Light Level, DEF, and ATK values are [i]normalized[/i] so that all characters are on [i]equal[/i] footing. Damage is driven by Impact and critical hits (head-shots). Weapons with higher Impact take [i]fewer[/i] shots for a kill. 1.1.1 NERFED the Auto Rifles even more than they were before... they're still viable... but only at mid/close range. Don't close too much or you'll eat a Shotgun or Fusion Rifle... you'll know when you get too close. Pulse Rifles got a much needed buff... and now they RULE the long/mid range engagements. Try using Three Little Words or Red Death... BUT you still have to score the head-shots. Hand Cannons are EXTREMELY versatile and effective at mid range... but they are [i]probably[/i] the hardest to get the aim down on. There's a big difference between hip firing, ADS (Aiming Down Sights), and [i]Quick-Scoping[/i]... people have to learn the where and when to use each. Many people have a habit of standing still when they shoot... once people master the art of strafing AND moving in and out of cover WHILE THEY SHOOT their K/D will improve dramatically. IF you're just getting the swing of things with a Warlock... DON'T take point... stick with the pack until you get your feet under yourself. HINT: if you're in close enough for a melee... an AR is the WRONG GUN... switch to a CQB weapon like a shotgun.

Another suggestion... since the DEF value of your armor doesn't matter in the regular Crucible... try using armor that boosts stats (or offers perks) to fit your style of play. If you want Specials... build Intellect If you want grenades... build Discipline If you CQB/Melee all the time... build Strength Sometimes you can build around a good power combo... Example: Voidwalker with Obsidian Mind and as much Intellect/Discipline boosting armor as you can get. Pair that up with Bad JuJu and a pair of Pulse Rifle speed loading gloves (just in case you need to reload)... Nova Bomb Space Magic ALL DAY LONG.
