Hard to get glimmer/Vanguard points.
Ok, I have only been playing for about a month now but I have noticed something. Is it just me or does it take for friggen ever to get either Glimmer for new objects and Vanguard points to unlock items? I mean, I go out, play for hours at a time and still only get a little bit of Glimmer per playthrough.
And no matter how much I try I cannot for the life of me get many Vanguard points. Is there some trick I am missing. I dedicate entire playthroughs to it but still haven't gotten one rank yet (though I am close). Is there a way to get either Glimmer of Vanguard points faster? Am I doing something wrong? At this rate it will be a year before I can upgrade my Sparrow or get any Vanguard only equipment. I think you guys can click on my profile to see where I currently am with everything, if you have any advice.

Each enemy alien has a consumable that increases glimmer drops. If you're short on glimmer and marks, run some strikes using the appropriate consumable and you get plenty of both. Since you're 19 the strikes will start dropping blue armor with Light and you will be able to run level 22 strikes soon. It takes a few hours to hit rank 2 on Vanguard and save enough marks to buy your first legendary. I'd focus on armor first as its a lot cheaper and the blue weapons are adequate. Also check the bounties and pick up some you can knock out doing strikes. On my first character (started playing in Jan) it took 10 hours or so to get 2 legendary pieces of armor, but after that it got easier and I was level 28 in short order.

If you farm the three hive majors in the first part of the cosmodrome with a black wax idol it is quick to make glimmer

Use the items that draw more glimmer out of enemies and use them through your bounties and dailies. One good spot is on Mars in the mission exclusion zone on a heroic modifier. Lots of major cabal that drop 25 glimmer per kill. So leave one alive then Have it kill you and repeat. Best if you use the resupply codes item. For vanguard points that's just doing the weekly daily and bounties as well as strikes. The higher the strike level Playlist the better. It takes time at first but you'll get there.
