“Well….. I think I will just stay here. No sense in switching now. I will just have Gaia pilot mine home.” She said unbuckling and following Azrix back to the cargo bay. He had opened a storage container built along the bulkhead of the ship and was rummaging around looking for something. Finally he withdrew a large glass bottle half full of dark liquid with a barely visible scratched and scuffed label. He took off his helmet and cast it away from him gently letting the zero gravity hold it. “Know what this is?” He asked holding the bottle up. “Does it get you drunk as hell?” She asked removing her mask. “That it does.” He said laughing as he unscrewed the bottle. “This is a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue label. It’s aged about 400 years and I’m pretty sure it’s better than anything you can find in the tower. My team and I found a whole case of them on one of our first scouting missions. After that every time we would come back from a mission, we would all have a glass.” He looked at the bottle with a solemn look in his eyes. A sense of sadness and loss. Then he looked up at Velox. “It’s been over a year since I had a taste of this. Even when I was at my lowest I didn’t even think about touching it. Now though, I have a team mate again. That was one harrowing mission if I do say so myself. Would you like a glass?” She nodded her head out of appreciation and respect. “Well usually we would do this once we have landed in the tower, but since we are going to land and pretty much immediately take off, we might as well do it now.” He opened the bottle and let two globs of the liquid escape which hung suspended in the zero gravity. Careful not to waist the beverage they each drank it. Velox had never tasted anything quite like it. It was potent and almost overpowering. She coughed slightly afterwards and even Azrix had to clear his throat. After another meal of instant rations, Azrix unfolded two bunk beds and the guardians laid down to get some much needed rest. To keep their bodies from floating away, they attached Velcro restraints to their legs and one arm. The trip back to earth would take a couple hours and as soon as they landed they would be back in space traveling. Alarms sounded and woke Azrix from his sleep. He ripped the Velcro straps off and pushed himself towards the cockpit with surprising speed. Velox was close behind. Once there, They looked outside and saw two other ships flying to their left. They had just made it to earth and were beginning their final approach to the planet. The communications icon was flashing on the digital control panel. Azrix pressed it and a voice came through over the loud speaker. “Raven, Raven this is Typhoon leader. You are to divert from your current course and be escorted to the tower. Failure to do so and we have permission to blow you out of the sky. Do you copy?” “Typhoon leader this is Raven. What reason are we being escorted?” Azrix asked in a pissed off tone. “Raven you are suspected of treason and being corrupted by the darkness. Divert your course to heading 236 now or be fire on.” “Why are they doing this?” Azrix asked. “Ikora must have put a bug on me or my ship. Once we got out of the range of the signal, it must have sent all the data it recorded back to her.” “Great we just got ourselves into a big mess.” He grumbled. “Raven do you copy?” “Typhoon leader, Raven copies heading of 236.” He said turning to the designated course. “What do we do when we get to the tower?” Azrix asked “We don’t tell them anything." She said. This concludes the Story Origin. I do hope you all enjoyed the read. The next story in the series will follow the same characters but for now i need to take a break and start the next one with an actual plan. I can tell you that the next story will involve Azrix and Velox finding a 3rd team member, meeting the banished guardians, and finding the Ahamkara.
