When you're playing a game and it just feels right. It feels fresh and fun, and like you're enjoying a true, quality gaming experience. Star Wars: Battlefront and Halo: Combat Evolved are two common examples of games that give off this vibe.
What games do you feel have that certain something? And more importantly, what do you think it is that creates that feeling?

Skyrim. I love getting mugged, because they think they can win.

I know this topic is a big time excuse to go on a nostalgia trip, but I'll leave that to everyone else. The most recent release I had that feeling with was... Dragon Age Inquisition. I'm on my second playthrough and, hot damn, it is a game.

I feel like I am in the minority of the minority when it comes to Halo CE. I flat out do not like the game. Singleplayer, or multiplayer. But I'll talk about MP here. The spawns in Halo CE (for MCC) are without a doubt, above and beyond, the WORST I have ever encountered in a video game before. Watching one or more enemy players spawn 10 feet in front of me is horrifying, and turns me off the game. It feels like there is a delay when I press the jump button, and when I actually jump. The hit detection is inconsistent. People are ice skating around the map. Grenades are nukes. For all the praise Halo 1 gets as the "best Halo MP", I sure as shit do not see it. I'll play the game if it comes up in a playlist, but I will never touch the Halo CE playlist.

Exploring a new path in Dark souls 2

I haven't found a recent game with that X-factor, although Rayman 2 is an example of one with that 6th element.
-
Can't really define what the certain something is that really hooks me on a game. All I know is that 2014 was devoid of certain somethings.
-
Darksouls.

Spyro and Crash. Something about those early games were amazing and I still love those games today. Loved going on a grand adventure and visiting different worlds that had very different worlds to explore and find hidden area's and secrets.
-
Star Wars battlefront 2 Ratchet and Clank Spyro Etc.
-
Dark souls, Morrowind, and all of the Metroid games.
Well, except for one......
-
Dark Souls Or most Elder Scrolls game I think big immersive worlds that feel like they really live and breathe are what gives the game that special something.
-
Warframe and GTA
MCC when it's fixed
Completely different genre, but I decided to give Rayman Legends a go because run its free, and I couldn't put it down, game design at its finest, no gimmicks just fun challenging platforming
-
Doom, it felt good every time I played it. Loved the music and sound design was also pretty special at the time. Enemies and weapons etc were great. I can't really nail one thing that made it special, all the different elements came together to make one fantastic game.

Just cause 2

The Ace Combat games, especially these three, are very well-crafted experiences with few flaws. Fun gameplay backed up by great stories and characters, with interesting settings and great atmosphere, and amazing soundtracks. It's just pure fun.

To me, it's any game with a grand adventure and/or nostalgic feel. Even if its something I've never played before. But...
03.11.2015 11:51 AM CT
What the hell is this?
