The Dark Below: Narrative of the Accounts of Eris Morn and her Fireteam (PT. III)
Toland, Eriana-3, and Vell continued down the right path. They hadn't heard a transmission from either Eris or Omar yet, so they didn't know of the horrors
"Toland, what are we looking for exactly?" asked Eriana, now impatient after walking for a few hours.
"Not looking... Listening" Toland replied.
Now that he'd mentioned it, Eriana and Vell both noticed the quiet of the deep Hellmouth. They hadn't heard a Thrall scream or anything for about an hour now
"This is too eerie" Vell said. "Why are they this qui-"
"Wait. Hush." Toland interrupted. "Do you hear that?"
It was the sound of clanging. The sound of steel clanging against something unbeknownst to the three. The clanging grew louder as the three happened upon a massive room. The walls were back with ash, with sharp dark rocks peeking out from them, and green-flamed forgeries lit around the entire expanse. At each forge, a Hive Knight forged their own blade of darkness... The clanging was the calcium armor of the Hive smashing their fists against steel-bone swords. Just like the ones the blades on the Earth use.
"What's that over there?" Said Eriana, pointing at a small light in the far corner of the room.
"I'm not sure Eriana," Toland replied. "But we don't need to try and investigate."
Almost on cue, the light disappeared, and Eris Morn emerged. She had taken some damage from the fall, but was overall okay, and she was mad... She witnessed the deaths of two incredible guardians, and that rage was clearly visible. She ran out from behind the rock she was hiding, took aim with her SUROS rifle and opened fire, decimating the now empty hall
"Eris Morn! What the Hell were you thinking?!" Toland barked. "You could've doomed us all in an instant."
"They needed to pay..." Eris said, her voiced shaking.
"What are these things?" Vell said, grabbing for a sword. He picked it up, and to his surprise: it was extremely lightweight...
"Be careful with that Vell," Eriana warned. "Who knows what sort of magics lurk within them..."
"I know." Said Toland. "That feeling you are feeling right now Vell, like it's pulling you. Yeah, that's because of the weapon. It's anxious, EAGER to tear away into all physical matter."
Vell dropped the sword. "So you're telling me IT wants to destroy. THE SWORD?"
"Yes Vell... Yes indeed" Toland responded.
"Enough banter, we need to get moving along. Toland, where's the door to this place?" Eriana looked around...
"The way I came," Eris said. "There was another way even further down, but I came up here to investigate the clanging."
"YOU came up here. Alone? Where's Omar?" Vell asked. "We sent him with you, is everything okay?"
"Omar was shredded, his light peeled away from him like the skin off an orange. It was the The Heart." Eris's voice started to shudder. "I tried to fight her, I really did, but she was... I mean Omar was..." Eris paused a moment. "She threw his body down a chasm, and I went after him."
"Be at peace, Eris." Toland said calmly. "We must save up strength if we are to face the thing which we are here to fight..."
"What would THAT be?" Eris stuttered. "No one told me the mission beforehand, so I went in blindly..."
"Eris," Toland said, his voice starting to quake, "We're here to kill Crota..."
