PVP Can't be balanced. Check this:

In yet ANOTHER review of Destiny's massive failures to improve upon itself, Paul Tassi of Forbes has written a very interesting and eye-opening account of probably the single biggest problem in Destiny: PVP and Bungie's erection for it. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/03/03/destinys-shotgun-fix-demonstrates-one-of-the-games-longest-running-problems/?utm_campaign=yahootix&partner=yahootix Discuss

 • I honestly don't usually like how Paul Tassi views Destiny, and this is no exception. He's advocating for Destiny to change everything that sets it apart in the realm of PvP, namely the unique buildability of the weapon/class set-up. One the one hand, Halo-oriented PvP can be very enjoyable, but amazingly frustrating once one team 'controls' the power-weapon spawn zones. On the other hand, CoD-oriented PvP has amazing customization available. But the level-dependant discrepancies, grindy unlockables, and the massive unbalanced nature of perks and weapons makes certain build ideas non-starters. Destiny is a middle ground, or maybe a true third option. Dumbing down the PvP experience to Halo levels would completely negate half the game. Why would dedicated PvP'ers ever play anything outside Crucible? Frankly, the fact that both aspects of the game have incentives to play the other is a positive. But let's actually try to set up a Halo-oriented PvP. First, you get a primary weapon. Just AR's or can you choose a specific one of the primaries? Already going back to customization. Okay, just AR's, but we have 4ish basic models to choose from, from the high volume to high impact, and stat changes in between. Let's just give everyone the For The People equivalent. Nope, you can't change anything there, no scope choices, no special ammo, no sling, third eye, or agility. Now, Special Weapons. Well, these are all 'power' weapons, so you can only pick those up in the map. Randomly choose from the base model and slap on some colors, same for heavy weapons. Now, armor. No perks there, it's all aesthetic. We're going for balance after all. So you cannot have melee increasing grenade respawn, or blinding bubbles, or reload bonuses, or extra ammo. So now the only thing that sets guardians apart is class abilities, which makes them the primary focus and win-scenario criteria. Having that auto-shotgun with the right stat distribution is what you used against Bladedancers. Sniping with P&T is how you double kill the rez'ing sunsinger. Thorn was that DoT that took out the Titan before he could Fist of Havoc. All this is gone. Yes, more 'skill' is involved, but people get much fewer options on how they want to play, so it only really requires learning how many bullets that specific AR needs to kill anything, or when/where the power weapons spawn. And there is always going to be that guy who grabs the shotgun straight away and jumps off a cliff, just to keep others from using it. And none of this is touching on how stupid it is to suggest PvE allowing all exotic builds. Paul Tassi want's Destiny to be Halo, I keep seeing it show through over and over in his articles. We have Halo. I love Halo. But I don't want Halo again, I would just play Halo. I want Destiny, or maybe a Destiny as it is in another 6 months. But I love what we have now, it has major differences from the other FPS games out there, and I like the changes.
