I've noticed a lot of people using the term "scrub" in the game and on these forums and I've put a lot of thought into understanding the term and its use.
Since the term was first brought into mainstream use and used to describe something other than cleaning by TLC in 1999, I'll assume the definition set in the like-titled song to be the only valid one.
This leads me to the conclusion that there are a lot of guys who play this game who are very selective regarding which guys they will give their love to; since a scrub is defined as "a guy who can't get no love from me" and they seem to call a lot of guys scrubs.
The part I find strange is that so many guys are even considering giving their love to other guys on Destiny. It's not the orientation part that I think is strange (to each their own) but more the medium. I'm not sure Destiny is the best place to find love to begin with, regardless of sexual orientation.
Further on the TLC (all girl 90s pop band by the way, kids) song that brought about this term everyone thinks is so cool: What is so wrong with hanging out of the passengers side of his best friends ride trying to holler? It seems that she's assuming that he doesn't have his own car just because he's a passenger in his friend's car at that moment. I have my own car and have ridden with friends when we go somewhere together, I would think that would be fairly common.
Anyway, can anyone tell me why so many guys are trying to find guys to love on Destiny and why they are so selective about it?

Well then what do we call girl scrubs?? Scrublets, scrubettes, scrubles? This is all very confusing and difficult to follow with all the terminology. Im just gonna go shoot some aliens and scrub the lunar surface with their dead bodies. That should help me get over this topic.

Get good fagit

I guess I'll go back to n00b.

Well if I'm on a Sparrow and my best friend is hanging off the side of my ride, trying to holler at attractive black women then I'm pretty sure that he's going to cause us to crash, and kill us both. I cannot say I'd blame any woman who didn't want to date a man that recklessly irresponsible with vehicle safety.

Funny, I know this is satire, but..... A scrub is a now generalized term used as a synonym for a "noob" or "newb," which is someone who is bad at a video game or activity in general. Most of the definitions here, surprisingly, have nothing to do with the actual term. The original definition is related to a person who makes a mistake in a video game, which is such a bad mistake that it is clearly wrong, yet they persist in making it. The term derives from Street Fighter II, to describe some players that were so bad that they would mash their hands across the control pad, an act known as "scrubbing," because it relates to scrubbing a car or other object with a sponge. Thus they were deemed "scrubbers," or "scrubs" for short. Over time this term expanded throughout the gaming world, and then the real world, and lost its original meaning.

It's a gamer that has decent to outstanding gear, that thinks highly of them self but in actuality are piss poor terrible. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Cheers

The Oxford English Dictionary has a few relevant definitions: "A mean insignificant fellow", dated to 1589 "A hard-worked servant", dated to 1707 "A player belonging to a weaker team", dated to 1892

The first time I heard the word scrub used as an insult was an episode of Full House when Stephanie Tanner was being bullied by the girl smoking cigarettes in the school bathroom around 1990. lol @ people using 5th grade girl g-rated sitcom slang

Not directly applicable to Destiny or what most people on these forums mean, but one of my favorite "scrub" definitions, as defined here.
