Title says it all, how come the Tower just looks/feels like a ghost town? There's little to no sound, only a few random NPC's walking around certain areas, and just a whole lot of nothing seems to be going on. Was it due to older console restrictions? Or is the Tower just supposed to feel dead?
Edit: Everyone seems to think I'm talking about actual players in the tower, or the servers being down. I'm talking about what Bungie put in the tower, the NPC's, the vendors, just everything in general. The tower feels empty, even with max players filling the lobby.

I think the robot with the broom should move round the entire tower getting in everyone's way

Here's how I see it: The Tower is the foundation; essentially a newly renovated castle, where people have just started moving in and haven't fully furnished it yet. NPCs and "traffic" will continue to be added as DLC and expansions are released - it seems sparse now, however, we're still close to the beginning of a 10 year journey with Destiny; I'm assuming that the Tower will be packed with Vendors, Quest Starters, etc. by the time the last expansion comes out. I see the Tower as the proverbial "End of the Beginning": a last ditch effort where Guardians assemble, to help the Traveler fight the Darkness...and we will see the Tower continue to grow and visually change based on the outcome of the war. What do you think? It's complete conjecture, but this is how I prefer to view it. ;-)

Its because everyone is down in the city where we guardians get killed if we try to go down there
-
it doesnt feel empty to me. *shrugs*

Edited by Raven: 3/3/2015 3:46:04 AMThe ghost does say "It took centuries to build, now we're counting everyday it stands". This is leading me to believe the tower is suppose to feel empty. As far as other players, you must have just been put into an empty server. Bungie has hundreds of servers for the tower. It's just a matter of which one you're put in.

There is a certain limit. Only 16 can be at a time. '(Multiple groups)

Because the party's at the reef!
-
We are getting 3 new factions during Comet
-
10 year plan. I'm guessing with each dlc we might see a new vendor of some sort.

I farted.
-
Because only reason to go there now is to get bounties. Can change and access gear/weapons from app

Ya I know. There should be more cool stuff to do and see. It should also be bigger.
-
Maybe it's because the tower is a mile above the ground and its specifically for the guardians and no one else
-
The tower is the calm before the storm. I think it's supposed to have mellow relax feel to it
-
Lol they add dots to the robots scattered through the map to make it seem full.
-
I'm pretty sure they made it that way on purpose - it makes it feel more alive like a real place. Think about it, when it's full of guardians (like it will be in about 8 hours) it feels energetic, thriving, bursting with activity. Then there are the weekends when it's steady but not busy (aside from "the search Xur" when it's packed and everyone is running every which way). Then there is the calm before the storm (Mondays, hours before reset when everyone is finished for the week or out getting in those weeklies/raids they haven't done yet before reset) when it's so quiet you wonder if anyone is even playing destiny right now. I mean think about it, even major cities that "never sleep" have times when it's oddly quiet and you feel alone (depending on location, of course) I think it really adds to the atmosphere of the game.

It's a glitch

I wish it was like that cut sence... Yeah that one. Would be cool if it were that lively.
-
Your mom just clocked in.
-
Yeah. Especially when lord Saladin comes and he's literally the only person in the entire courtyard
-
I liked how it looked when Dinkle-bit shows you the tower for the first time. So lively :)

Take a shower and more people come around ;)

Because lazy, cash-grabbing schemes don't necessarily give a -blam!- about making sense.

Guardians are the ones that live there, guardians are players, therefore you'll likely only see other players there mostly.
