Digital Game Pricing Problem

DIGITAL DOWNLOAD GAMES: A SCAM?? Why do so many digital games cost the same as store bought games? Shouldn't they be cheaper? (I'm talking psn, I don't know about Xbox) I read an article that said when you buy a game disc at a retail store (let's say a store like GameStop), your $60 is divided up so that publisher gets $27, the retailer (the GameStop) gets $15, cost of making, packing, and shipping the disc to stores is around $4, the console manufacturer takes $7, and the cost of returning unsold games is about $7. If you buy games digitally, there is no retailer (-15), no making, packing, and shipping the disc to store (-4), and no need to return unsold games (-7). That's $26 extra that we pay when we buy games digitally. I almost feel like I'm wasting money now when I buy a digital game. I don't knew about you, but I'd rather pay $34 as opposed to $60. Any thoughts, explanations, or corrections?? Thanks for the respectful input guys!!

  • It has more to do with impulse buying. If you drive to frys, or order off Amazon you don't have it instantly. It's also why buying and renting movies on Apple TV or Playstation or anything costs more than physical. People pay it
