Hi team,
Something that has been suggested time and time again in my friend circle.
Summary
Large invasion public events similar to "the enemies are moving against each other"
Wave based in nature (satisfies need for "horde" mode)
30 - 60 minutes in duration
Public notification for everyone on the planet, where, what, when, ect (This will result in >3 players in the fighting area at once)
Reward of vaguard marks/rep
High chance of engram drops (large amount of enemies killed)
Large sense of urgency and reminds guardians that the threat to the traveller is alive and well
Details
Dynamic events that require immediate action from all destiny players on the planet. For example when "the enemies move against each other" it becomes very challenging to stay alive. If this could be extended from a few minutes to an hour then it could become a "invasion public event" which notify's all players online about the invasion in a particular area on a particular planet.
(Anyone who has ever done the "Nexus" strike and dropped in to the vex and fallen fighting will know just how crazy it can get when "the enemies move against each other". The same used to happen when you stayed at the original loot cave for a long time.)
This of course would only be upto the maximum number of players allowed in an area at anyone time (planet limit I think is 12?? Definitely >6), fighting against the invasion. A simple reward of vanguard marks and reputation would be enough as the chance of good engram drops will be high.
Many players have called out for a horde mode which would require a separate mode to be created where as this is just a modification.
Potentially adding a boss towards the end of the fight would also be welcome.
Edit
Feel free to add ideas of your own and discuss with your friends how you would want this to work

DO WANT. Bring back that feeling of seeing 9 people or so take down a Devil Walker, like what was originally shown at that one E3 demo. If this ever happens... it needs to be more than one Walker, though. Multiple, and high-tier enemies like Servitors need to be common. Other enemies, like the Hive, for example: have a small horde of elite Ogres crawling out of the Hellmouth together. Or Vex Hydras appearing en masse. Cabal Colossus units dropping in from orbit like ODSTs. Aw yeah. I would LOVE to play this.

It could even be something like "The Enemy has Breach the walls of the city". This could help satisfy the need to actually protect the thing they talk about. It could even have a level ranking so the higher the level the tougher the enemies or add modifiers for max level encounters.

Edited by dicjones: 3/2/2015 7:11:05 AMThis next paragraph is from Arrowhead Studio's website. It's about their upcoming game Helldivers, which releases on March 3rd I think. It's in reference to something they call the galactic campaign. "What is the galactic campaign? By playing Helldivers, every player in the world participates in a global meta campaign called the Galactic Campaign. Each time a player completes a planet their progress is uploaded and their contribution to the Galactic Campaign will be registered. From time to time, the enemy will try to counterattack, spawning events where you have to defend a city planet from invading enemies. These events give double experience, and should the community fail to defend a planet, the region will be lost. Each Galactic Campaign lasts 4-6 weeks and the challenge of the campaign is dependent on the performance of the entire community in the previous campaign." If they can do something like this with a development team of 10-12, why can't Bungie do it with their 500? I'll be honest, I expected this sort of thing to be part of Destiny.

Bump 10/10 would read again.

Why not do this? A great idea.

Bump. Good idea. Totally support it

This!

I like this idea. Maybe mini-bosses that provide buffs to their allies that make it more imperative to take them out.
-
I like the idea.. We are at war with all these different groups of aliens. I wish the designers would crank up the heat on these aspects. Increase the war intensity.. Maybe one or more of the different alien groups can ambush players while they are on patrols. At moments of least expected.

Sounds like defiance

Theyre not answering these anymore i believe. Not that their replies could be considered answers though.

Could this also be turned into an entire planet going rather than just an area?

Edited by ToughGuy051: 3/1/2015 4:15:37 AMWe kinda already have this in the enemy moves against each other events. Obviously your idea is the expand it location and duration wise. I like it. I love those events. They are difficult to survive even with max lv characters. Its so intense and i wish more of the game was like that sometimes. The only intense focusing moment i could think of is that middle part of undying mind. Too bad about that glimmer doe. But very fun.

Basically a Horde mode

Imagine trying to open VOG under those conditions!
