Eliminate the target... PFFFTTT yea right Bungie!!
The "eliminate the target" public events are f**king ridiculous to complete when alone in patrol!! I nearly wasted all my AR ammo, sniper ammo, and 5 Truth rockets and I still wasn't able to kill the damn Captain with his OP shield that regens in 5 seconds.

Equip a heavy machine gun with field scout with the proper element damage and you will take them down with little trouble.

I can ONLY solo psion and sevitor targets because they have no shield

Radiance with fusion grenades, scorch melee and a shotgun you can take one out before the first checkpoint

Use a shotgun or fusion rifle to bring their shields down then keep shooting with Thorn. The Damage over time prevents their shield from regenerating. Using this strategy I've had no problems taking them down solo.

Most of them aren't to bad. However the one in the rustyards on the cosmodrome is unbelievably hard solo

This doesn't happen to everyone apparently. My fireteam and I hate those public events because they're the only one that don't make sense. Sometimes, between three of us we drop it quite quickly. Other times we all empty all three of our guns of ammo and the bastard never dies. It's literally the only Public Event I have a better chance of not even getting a participation badge in, instead of a sure Gold Tier

guys just use a shotgun if a cap use arc shotgun and the cabal guy use solar shotgun and if anything with void use a void shotgun (USE THE SHOTGUN)

Use DoTs as much as possible if u can get shields down. Have a thorn with you. I like to keep a good shotty or fusion to take down shields then thorn to keep them down if I have to solo

Here's a tip. Captains usually have Arc Shields so you'll need weapons that deal arc damage. Kinetic is okay, but make sure his shields are gone first. Don't let off of him! Keep hammering him with grenades, your super or melee, use everything you got on him! Here's the pattern I use. Murmur - Arc type, one his shields are gone I switch to my Heavy, I recommend using a Machine gun unless you have Galajhorn. Once you burn through the magazine of your heavy weapon switch to your primary. Reload repeat and continue. Remember, use the correct damage type for the correct shield type Arc - Arc Solar - Solar Void - Void Solar is a yellow shield, Arc is a light blue shield, and Void is a purple shield.

That s right. Sometimes you are all alone in the area and then a public event pop up and is nearly impossible to complete. I get 2 stars maximum when alone.

You need to have all arc weapons on to take down a captain. Just like you need all void weapons s to take down the Minotaur. If you don't have the right weapons you will fail solo. Even a high level player.

It's kinda dumb Bc that captain is a lvl 8 character it kinda makes me feel like lvls in this game don't even matter

Yea that's a bullshit public event. I've tried solo and only wasted ammo like you did. But it's just an infuriating match and it made me throw my controller

If you're talking about that level 3 captain at the mothyards, yeah that's Randall. He's pretty damn close impossible to kill. I think there's some glitch with that one particular event.

Make sure to have proper burn damage on your equipped weapons. Whenever I solo those public events I change my weapons. Unless by chance I have proper burns equipped. It's hard solo but not impossible.
