Speedrun!

I appreciate that everyone likes to run strikes at their own pace, so I'll try to be polite... If you want to speedrun through a strike avoiding pretty much every enemy you can, that's fine by me. However, you need to make sure that you are capable of taking on the boss of that strike on your own for as long as it takes for your teammates to catch up after having run what they may consider the "proper game". Some players may also not be as fit as you and may not be able to keep up! I would stress that I certainly do not class myself as a fantastic player. I can hold my own in PvE and reckon I play well enough for most fireteams, but not the upper tier teams. This morning I ran through the Archon Priest run. The two players sped off and I suppose I should have realised waht was going to happen after they sped past all the mobs at the Ember Caves but then foundered at the first section with the Hydra, one dying there. Killed the mobs with them and they sped off again. Again, they foundered at the next section with the three waves of Vex. I am pretty good with a sniper rifle and so provided fire support from a short distance and took out most of the ultras myself. Again, they died a few times, usually due to running in and getting shot (presumably preceded by "Follow ME, YEEEEHAAA!"). Onto the next stage. I was literally few seconds behind them and ended up mopping up all the mobs. I suddenly found myself dead and spirited to their area. Bless them, they used the old "Annoy the other player who has the audacity to not play OUR WAY!" method to catch me up. So I went back to the previous area and finished off the mobs. As a result, I refused to shoot at the Archon Priest. Before anyone says that I'm as bad as them, I diligently provided fire support from a distance and took out nearly every mob the game threw up. However, given their gung-ho tactics they were still killed multiple times and it took nearly 12 minutes to defeat the boss. To top it off, they got crap rewards! That's poetic justice. If you want to speedrun, that's fine, but as I said above be good enough to hold your own and don't force people to play your game. After all, if you are good enough you don't need their help do you? Stating players who want to play the game (properly) should "Get good" is not an intelligent argument to do this. Clearly above, I wasn't the one who needed to "get good". Additionally, how are they supposed to "get good" if they are forced to avoid experience generating situations? I do not try to force players to play my way, please don't force me to play yours. If you state that you don't have time to run it properly, play when you do have the time. If you are trying to maximise the marks you can get in a week, this isn't particularly valid as you can only get 100 marks and can easily earn those in a day's playing. What are you going to do with the other 6 days? Are you actually enjoying the game by playing it like this? I doubt it as it sounds like it's more of a grind to get those marks or the glimmer of hope you may get a Legendary engram. Lastly(!), if it's your intention to speedrun the game, not being good enough to defeat the boss solo simply delays the end until your fireteam catches up or they may even sit there and refuse to help, delaying you even further. How much time with you save? 1 minute, maybe 2. As ever, I appreciate that not everyone will agree with me. However, try to put yourself in someone's shoes and ask yourself how you would feel if you were forced to play in a way you didn't like. Deal with it? Yes, that's ok once in a while. But not all the time.
