The Hunt part I

There are three classes, three schools, of guardian. Warlock, Titan and Hunter. Each class has its own specific role to play in the protection and growth of The City. Warlocks protect the city with knowledge that they gain from studying the light, their knowledge is unparalleled; they are scientists, magicians, soldiers and philosophers whose power truly smites our enemies. They are the newest class having risen in strength and numbers since the creation of The City. Titans are strong, to understate the fact. Their strength creates a wall, both figuratively and literally, between the people we protect and the beings that would harm them. They are brave and powerful, the first into the breach, they are the knights and engineers of The City, their strength bravery and intelligence flatten our enemies. The Titans are the second oldest class, they built the city and its walls, and they have served as its army for generations. Finally there are the Hunters. Hunters are swift and silent, they are patient and calm. They are knowledgeable but not as clever as the Warlocks. They are strong but their strength is no match for the Titans. They are scouts; they go far beyond the walls of the city seeking technology, resources, foes and life. They are guides, protecting and leading feral tribes toward The City; they gather intelligence on the Cities enemies and assess the lay of the land for strikes and other attacks. The Hunters are the oldest guardian class, stretching back to before The City; they were the guardians of humanity before we found The Traveler, hovering over where its last stand took place. They were guardians of necessity, protecting the weak and vulnerable using weapons scavenged and made from scraps. The oldest hunters fought without the blessings of the light or the ghosts that carry our burdens and pick locks on doors. The final job that hunters do is hunt, they kill our enemies. The Hunters may seem to be approaching obsolescence in this age, the lands are well known and there are almost no tribes of ferals out in the wild. But there is a task that only hunters are able to complete, it is not something they talk often about, in fact many of the other guardians seem to think that this is just another tale of bravado that they tell in order to get someone else to buy the next drink, but it is a real task, a tradition that is nearly as old as the Hunters themselves, one that we have become specifically skilled at. The Hunt. Every now and again an enemy will appear that causes mayhem and destruction in the wild, an enemy that kills guardians, an enemy that no strike can harm and escapes any raid, an enemy that sees us coming no matter how well we plan. This enemy requires a different approach. One that requires speed, stealth and patience. A target that must be hunted. I am Kied Vant, I am a Hunter and I am on The Hunt.
