Finally got my elgato so no more choppy vids, guys. Hooray!
This week's nightfall is The Will of Crota (Omnigul) with the following modifiers.
-Epic
-Nightfall
-Angry
-Lightswitch
-Juggler
I'll be using the following
Fang of Ir Yut (Arc Scout Rifle)
Black Hammer (Solar Sniper)
Gjallarhorn (Solar Launcher)
So... No burn, but lightswitch is on. On other strikes I wouldn't mind too much. However, it's The Will of Crota, a strike that I, and many others, hate. It's a very long strike with a very annoying boss and there are plenty of invisible vandals and thralls to gang up on you and kill you quick. On the bright side, there's no burn. On the not so bright side, there's no burn. While I do enjoy dealing triple damage to everything, no burn will allow me to technically be safe at long range combat for a variety of reasons.
If we had arc burn, wizards, vandals, dregs, cursed thralls, thralls, a skiff (Fallen ship) and boomers would destroy you.
If we had solar burn, anything with a shrapnel launcher would destroy you, not too bad, not too great. But Gjallarhorn would be super op.
If we had void burn, the ogre.... yeah just the ogre would destroy you, void burn also wouldn't be too bad.
Considering the length of this mission and the amount of enemies, no burn is a fairly neutral gain/loss in my opinion, because it could've been arc, and it could've been solar. I'll settle with neither.
Anyways, i'll try and explain/walk through what I did now.
For the first bit, I'm lazy, so I try to let the hive and fallen kill each other as much as possible. To do that, you have to clear some fallen first. You can kill all but the two major captains and to progress the next wave of fallen. After that, some shanks will appear, then some invisible vandals. Once you clear the vandals, the hive will start to spawn and you can fall back and wait it out a bit. If you hear the fighting stop, go up and see what's going on and then clear whoever won (The hive will win every time due to lightswitch). After you clear the hive the first time (only have to kill thralls and maybe a red bar knight), more hive AND fallen will spawn, so fall back and let them fight. Once eris says "Push forward, Guardian." that's your cue to camo up and run through if you're a hunter. Entering the next area causes the enemies in the first area to despawn, so you don't have to worry about them. If you're not a hunter, kill what you can and run around them.
In the next bit, it's quite simple, kill fallen, run through to omnigul. Just watch out for the snipers, the shanks that can spawn on top of you, and the invisible vandals that rush you in big numbers. Just play it safe and stay back. Once the skiffs start dropping in, they'll eventually drop off an Ultra Captain named "Phyksin, King Baron." All you have to do is kill him and you can move on, just remember the floor is lava because there are lots of invisible vandals around you.
Once you're in the next bit, guess what. Stay back, play it safe. Fun, right? Anyways, grab omnigul's attention, kill thrall, kill knights, kill cursed thralls. Move up, kill wizards, kill cursed thralls, kill knight in the sky. Move up, kill cursed thralls, move back, kill ogre, kill knights, kill acolytes, kill thralls. Once the room is clear, you can move up to omnigul's last stand.
This is perhaps one of the slowest and most annoying boss fights, even worse than Valus Ta'aurc. Every quarter of health you take out from omnigul, she summons more enemies that make fighting her impossible and you have to kill them before you can continue to hurt her for another 25% and then just do that 4 times. Be careful though, as at some point she spawns cursed thralls behind you/to your right. Eventually, an extra boomer knight spawns too. Just deal with them safely as far away as possible and once they're clear, yo'u're relatively safe to move up a bit and fight omnigul. Lather, rinse, repeat. Hope you brought lots of heavy ammo synths.
Good luck, Guardians!
I'll start uploading the solo vid asap.
Done soloing, took 47 minutes to do this nightfall. Painful. Uploading video now, will be up by noon.
-
That's a tough nightfall right there. It's bad enough with a burn.
-
Debating if I should put commentary on these solos bump.
-
I'll b using: Fate Bringer Ice Breaker Hunger of Crota Then when I reach Omnigul will switch to: Fang of Ir Yüt Ice Breaker Hunger of Crota
-
Solo finished uploading bump.

FYI Shrapnel launchers are barely an issue, even with solar burn. They're already fairly poorly utilized by the Fallen in addition to the fact that so few of them use them. For Omnibul, Void Burn is the best, due to only one enemy advantage, then Solar Burn is a close second since the Fallen use the gun way too far away to be a threat, and they don't appear during the boss battle, and Arc burn is a legitimate threat due to the saturation of arc damage in that strike. Solar burn is rarely a hindrance because many of the best weapons are solar damage.
-
if any one needs help add me we did it 3 times no trouble and we just use ice barkers we don't have galhorn so it possible
-
well since there is no burn, it's time to rock your Suros + whatever sniper + Hunger of Crota
-
A nightfall should be hard so Omnigul without burn sounds right ^^ but this time if you get shards or 5 coins will be really pissed ^^
-
Fatebringer IB ( 1st & 2nd Phase ) , while bossfight i'll take my Plug One 1 or light of the abyss Gally ( Bossfight) , while 1st & 2nd Phasei'll use Heze Vengeance
-
Omnigul with no burn. I hate omnigul! Most tedious strike and, without burn, it blows harder.
-
Use thunderlord on omnigul, tears the bish up
-
Abyss defiant (shanks)/fatebringer (main) Icebreaker (main)/murmur (boss fight) Hezen vengeance (main)/song of ir yut (after fallen)
-
I will be using fang or ir yut (arc) Don't know yet Gally(solar)
-
No way! Are you serious! Omnigul again!
-
I'll be using Saterrine Rapier, Ice breaker, and One Way Ticket 000
-
Completed the nightfall bump. Will get video up asap
-
ill proberly be using abyss difient light of the abyss gallahorn

Edited by bobbydarko : 2/17/2015 11:20:26 AMTook my group a freaking hour to run this. :/ Mostly the last bit. And then, since I didn't reset the game, I got nothing. I managed to melee kill her on the heroic. That was one nasty up-skirt.

Edited by AngryPanda: 2/17/2015 11:39:57 AMah dang it...my least favourite.... Guess it shall be Vanquisher/Abyss defiant, Icebreaker/LDR arc, Gjallarhorn
-
Edited by Steel1977: 2/17/2015 11:29:43 AMThanks for the update. I will use Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn. I might need people to run this with, I haven't seen my PSN friends for more than a week now on Destiny. If you are running this in the evening Central European time on PS4 and need people send me an invite. Edit: forgot to add my PSN ID: TheRealSteel1977

So what are you guys using? Guess shanks are still solar, so are wiches, Knights and captains arc...?? VoC/fang IB/LDR Ghorn/HoC
-
Quite the challenge, I'm thinking about using VoC/Abyss Defiant IB/P&T The Swarm
-
Cheers for heads up. VOC / Vex Ice / P&T Solar/Arc MG / RL
-
Well that's just plain dirty
-
Hunger of Crota and Ghorn melt Omnigul. 4 rockets take about 1/3 her health. I'll be using Voc (stupid shanks) IB Hunger Then switching between: Vex Murmur Hunger/ghorn if heavy drops.
-
No burns?
