Community Focus - /r/DestinyTechSupport
Our focus this week is a subreddit dedicated to helping Destiny players answer technical questions. If you are experiencing an issue in Destiny 2, the best place to start is always Help.Bungie.net. We’re always there to assist you, but we also like to point out others who volunteer their time to support players and help them find the answers they seek.
We spoke with some of the moderators of /r/DestinyTechSupport to learn about their sub and their goals.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in the Destiny 2 Community.
DestinyTechSupport: We are a sister subreddit in the /r/DestinyTheGame family and our purpose is to help out users in the Destiny community with any technical issues that they may face on consoles and soon, on PC! We were established to help with any troubleshooting, PC spec questions, peripheral info, etc.
Sounds like a valuable service. Where can we find this subreddit?
irJustineee: You can find us over at /r/DestinyTechSupport/. We have quite a few regular members there that are more than happy to help out people with any problems or issues they may face. Or even if they simply just want some advice.
What kinds of things does your sub do to help players?
DestinyTechSupport: We help with a range of issues, from something as simple as changing language setting on Blizzard’s Battle.net Launcher, to helping new users with PC build guides and providing technical advice for console issues.
Have you had success helping players out?
Bananabelle: Yes, we have. Sometimes the answer is as simple as restarting the application, but there are times where we will encourage our users to report more complex issues to Bungie’s help section for official support. One of my favorite posts was seeing the community band together to solve an issue where the game would crash during the PC Beta. Some people were able to solve the problem by clearing their pending friend requests, and some people tracked down a dll file causing the crash. Our community has been great with helping each other out, and I know the PC community is very excited to experience Destiny 2 on their machines.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again? Enough shoptalk, what are your favorite subclass and weapons?
I share your soft spot. What have been your favorite things about Destiny 2 so far?G Smebbs: My favorite subclass is dual pulse grenades, and my favorite weapon is Nameless Midnight. I also have a soft spot for all the Hunter subclasses.
irJustineee: Raiding has been one of the best and most enjoyable things for me so far in Destiny 2. I love to run the raid each week with my clan, I love to run through it with my friends and also, as a Sherpa, I love to teach it to inexperienced guardians as well. I’ve also really enjoyed the game visuals and the soundtrack - it’s so pleasing to the eyes and ears. I honestly think you guys have done a really good job with both of those things.D0cR3d: Honestly, all the friendships in the game keep me going. Just this past weekend, irJustineee and I leveled up a few brand new characters and every bit of it was very enjoyable and fun. I’ve gotten to know all the members of the mod team on a more personal level, many of us have even met in person, and we have all become great friends.Bananabelle: I’ve really enjoyed raiding with my clan, and the larger tower has led to so many silly antics with friends, such as finding all the Easter eggs, playing the floor is lava, dance parties, and so on. It’s a great way to decompress after a long raiding session or after a PvP match doesn’t quite go the way we’d like.G Smebbs: My favorite part of the game, apart from raiding with my clan and my friends, is how immersive the story missions were. Especially getting to the Farm for the first time. The music was perfect and emotionally resonant. I’m also glad Xur sticks around longer.
Anything else you would like to add before we wrap up?
D0cR3d: Where do we go to collect our M&M’s? Also Woodhouse would like Luke Smith to sing him a lullaby but like he’s a dragon. Can we get a power weapon that fires Pulse Grenades?G Smebbs: Do we get a community focus emblem?
No, no, no, and no. But we do appreciate you taking the time to answer our questions and tell everyone more about /r/DestinyTechSupport.
We would like to thank the moderators and supporters of /r/DestinyTechSupport for stopping by to talk with us and also for volunteering their time to help others troubleshoot technical issues.
If you have someone who you think would make a good community focus, please share them with us on our Community forum with the #CommunityFocus tag.
