Lurulu? It is a special word, from the language of myths and legends, and is as much of a mystery now as when I first yearned for something lost and unknown. But one day I shall glance over my shoulder and there it will be, wondering why I had not come sooner.

A Lurulurian Christmas Carol Part II

Christmas is an odd word to a Lurulurian. Every year, on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month, it is customary for the King to call home a warrior, and permit that he not be drafted again. At this time, there had not been a war in over a hundred years, and this tradition was all but unknown to the citizens of Lurulu. The only men in the city who could recall the time before the era of peace, spoke little of it. It was Archmage Zizou whose memory held this time the fondest, as he had seen hundreds good men spared the fires of war over the years. He was not to be found arguing this case for Zygomaticus' return, for Zygomaticus was a nobleman who had been exiled and given trials, hardly a warrior. The worst thing that could happen, was that he die of old age before completing them. And it was with these thoughts, those of Zygomaticus, that he awoke as he had many times before: cold and alone in the confines of the Surantiath, with an erection. He treasured Zygomaticus with all of his mortal power, but love is a thing that must die, and so any power he might be able to use to bring him back from the stance of an immortal, was null. He looked about himself. The potion he had been brewing was one he seldom had; a liquid spell, meant to be tossed from a vial and sparked with lightning. A spell to defy death, which Lady Otthild had requested so that she may hold her youth for another hundred years. Something had gone wrong, and the concoction was nowhere to be found. ___________________________________ ______________________ Alone in his chambers, Elegiac sat. He knew what the ancient warrior had told him to be true, and he had armed himself and bore his finest enchanted armour. He held his ion pistol at the waist, and waited for the doors to open. The candles died. ___________________________________ ______________________ Far in the east, the Emerald city was abandoned. Once a beacon of light and hope against the Blue Menace, the city no longer held purpose. It was in these green stones that The Solonoid had erected a shrine to the Burning Eagle, and it was here that house of the Trussing Door first gained power. It was a city built on malevolence, and designed to breed war. Unlike most machines of war, the Emerald City took up arms only once, and did it's other work silently, in the shadows. The Blue Menace had abandoned the planet long ago, and those who remained were left to wander their empty streets, or sail the Flooded Void. It is this void that all men enter the world from, or the Land of Destiny. It was here that Karl, from the planet of Ijeeyene entered seeking knowledge of Felicia CDII, Queen of the Sanctuary. The sailors of the Void laughed off the fool, and told him that he had no place amongst them. Lord Darkseid orderd his execution, by Omega beams. Gojira of Roach wept for him, and The Solonoid took to streets, sharing his memory. ___________________________________ _____________________ Two dark figures emerged from the King's doorway. The Solonoid made a motion, and the fires blazed once more, illuminating the room, and shedding light on the face of the second man. "I am the spectre who is your guide." said the second man. "What is your name?" the King demanded. "I have none, but in life I was Karl, of Ijeeyene." "Give me one reason I shouldn't obliterate you both." The Solonoid raised an eyebrow as if the question were out of place. "You are powerful, but what is power without purpose? You have nothing to gain by destroying us, but much to gain by submitting to my will. Besides, even if you did try to destroy us, there are some for whom death does not hold in the ordinary sense", Solonoid only gave the hint of a smile this time, "We are such beings." Elegiac turned his gaze inward, testing the truth of these words. "What you say is the truth, I will submit to your will." The Solonoid had arrived in Lurulu a hundred years ago, shortly before he was stricken dead by The Overlord after exposing Keith of the Nine. In all that time he had never seen Elegiac use his powers. "Take my hand." Elegiac took Karl's hand, and was warped through the fiery planes of existence, to a time before Lurulu, before the Emerald City, before the Mongoloids formed the United Asylum. He was whisked away to a Void ruled by a self-declared Emperor, ruled by a Blue Menace, The Day of the Porch.
