Women and car culture.

I love cars, and the culture around them. If I had unlimited money and free time I would just waste my days tinker with cars, and building them the way I see fit. I also love the culture of cars I love that they bring people together and that they bring out the goodness in people. However there are some serious issues that I find with the culture. Car culture is primarily male dominated. While that seems to be changing, it still dominated by men. Now why is this? Honestly I'm not sure. Cars appeal to all genders and all ages in my opinion. I honestly think it has to with how hostile car culture is towards women. Car culture as I said if filled with great generous people who love sharing their passion with others regardless of gender. However there are those with outdated mindsets that treat women like second class citizens and are very hostile towards them.Go on any car related website and you'll see it's primarily dominated by men. And if a woman goes to a website and outs herself, she usually is attacked, and called names like "attention whore" "fake car girl" , derogatory post about her body, and people asking for her number. This really deters women from becoming a bigger part of the culture. I mean who wants to be treated like that? I know I certainly wouldn't want that. Honestly this problem is a hard one to fix. I think it deals with the way people are raised and how they see women. I'm not sure what else it could be. I honestly don't understand why having a vagina automatically makes you a "fake car girl" or an "attention whore" or whatever. You should be able to like what you want regardless of the genitals you were born with. I mean males aren't questioned about their knowledge or are called "fake" when they come into the culture, so why should women? Why can't women like the same things as men without being questioned? I honestly don't know the answer to that question. However I do know this mistreatment needs to stop. In order to get more women involved in car culture we need to make the environment more friendly. We need to not be judgmental of a person based on their gender of their knowledge. No one needs to prove their knowledge to be a "real enthusiast.' You like cars? Great you're a car enthusiast. You don't need to know how to rebuild an engine or have any mechanical knowledge really. You just need a love of cars. That's what should matter. That's how we get more women involved in the culture. We just need to treat them like fellow humans. We don't need to question their knowledge or gawk of their breasts, or anything like that. We just need to treat them like people.
