Concerning the story...

Edit: (I had placed this in the comments a few moments ago, but felt like I should make a thread) No one disputes the fact that there are huge problems with the way the story has been presented...with what's left of the lore being tossed away into the grimore (or whatever it's called), not anything being really "set up" for future reference. Everyone expects a story to grow with time, and not to expect a dramatic or complete epic of LOTR saga (in its entirety) within the first chapter. That being said, this "story" hasn't even started. It's like a bata for something that could be. When people say Destiny's story sucks, what they really mean is the presentation and lack there of. Honestly if you wanna grow your story with time, gamers get that Bungie. But it is a bad business decision to assume the gaming community of today is patient enough for you to " fill in the holes " of your game later, after release. Especially when reviews assessing the game you created are most critical ( duh) immediately following commercial release. Personally, I feel --most, if not all-- the criticism of the game is stemmed from players not knowing what the heck they were/are fighting for within the game. And even though reasons exist, they exist outside the game itself. (Laden stricken amongst a prison of virtual, useless playing online cards. Unfortunately, I feel as though we already have the answer as to why the story is at the state of absence that it is, and it comes down to hidden politics and petty legal business qualms. ...Everyone knows the lead righter left. What we don't know, what may never know, is WHY? But you can bet it was NOT on good terms. And when the lead writher left, he barred Bungie from his intellectual property, wether it be out of spite or pride, leaving us with a ghastly shell of a dream once lain at the foot of us that lied in eager wait to transcend ourselves into the very Legends once promised. Don't get me wrong, I still play Destiny. But I can't shake the feeling that I'm wearing the coat of a dead loved one in the rain. Some of us still have faith. Faith that light still exist at the end of this dark, dark tunnel. I only wish those of you in this community would belay your swords and rally together, instead of resorting to laying blade into the very passions of those of whom you call, your "Community" . The fight is not over, but if we continue to parry against one another, the struggle is already lost. Love, an honest, "white knight fanboy ".

 • Agree. If they wanted to make an mmo with periodic story elements they should have committed to making a more expansive world with solid lore framework. If they wanted to make an fps then it should have had a complete story even as a "first chapter" like every other great game. I too keep holding on hoping the storytelling will be guided to a better path... Pvp is rock solid IMO though so i'm havin some fun there.
