Yeah, several people have been banned already and then they ran to the help forum asking how long their "suspension" was for. Dumb asses.

Should be permanent

It should be permanent but I'm sure Activision doesn't want to offend it's customers. :-( Do they permanently ban people in CoD?
-
They don't ban cod

Well then I guess it's pretty safe to say that Destiny's PvP aspect will be completely ruined--close enough to it currently--in the next month or so.
-
Highly unlikely that PvP will be ruined; this isn't an "inconvenience" bug, or someone complaining that weapon x just killed them in Crucible and needs to be nerfed...this is a bona fide game-breaker my friend. I'm willing to wager practically anything that this will be patched within 24 hours. ;-)
-
It's been weeks, it's just growing.
-
It's been going on since 3 days after the game came out and has yet to be patched or even treated as a serious thing up until a day or two ago.
-
Would you be so kind as to link the post from 3 days after release concerning this matter? I've read a lot of threads on these forums & yesterday was the first time anyone in my social circle learned of such a glitch. Thanks, greatly appreciated - if there is a two month old post containing this exploit's details then I agree, it's bad...however, I've seen some rather outrageous claims without links to any peer-reviewed references floating around on these boards. Thanks again for your time.

Edited by VisageOfAnAngel: 11/10/2014 6:05:56 PMHonestly I don't feel like trolling through 2 months worth of forum posts to find it. Attached is a YouTube video of the cheats on PS4 on launch day (look at the video upload date). Bungie knows about it but the way that Crucible is set up (server to set up matches and record scores, P2P for everything else) none of these hacks show up on their side. Infinite ammo for all weapons at spawn has been an issue from the beginning and because of the way they designed the net-code there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it without a major change to said net-code (which would be nice since it's rubbish to begin with). Edit: It definitely started on PS4 at launch (player in video was banned). Hit Xbox 360 at least 3 weeks ago. I hear it's on PS3, too. So far I've yet to hear about Xbox One being affected but they do have an insane amount of verification stuff built into that system. On a final note, I do not lie or exaggerate and do not appreciate the suggestion.
-
Ps3 has them bad, infinite life, and no cooldowns as well.

Careful now, Causmadi is going to insist you for video proof from five seconds ago and when you explain to him you odn't have a video capture card he's going to say you're a small child and he's a college-edumacated business professional. Oh and someone else--forgot who--will tell you that you're just being cynical and only looking at the negative side of cheating.

Making claims about what other people know or do not know will usually result in a challenge requesting proof (In my experience). This is especially true in certain lines of work as well as higher education. Please do not take it as an insult that I wanted a source; if I made a claim stating that Bungie is going to allow sanctioned modding from the community in Destiny 2, I sincerely hope that you would request proof instead of blindly believing what is written in a post on an online forum, yes?

Edited by VisageOfAnAngel: 11/10/2014 6:52:18 PMFrankly, your responses seem troll-ish. A simple Google search of "Destiny hacked" will show many pages of results all dating from September 9th through the 15th. Many of these have video proof; some even come from "reputable" sources. I am not writing yet another dissertation here; I am having a discussion on an internet forum. I am not going to do rampant amounts of research on my phone when you can do a Google search yourself. If you seriously believe that Bungie/Activision had no concept that this happened when it was on the local news (seriously, a little disturbing it made the local news) along with IGN, Kotaku, N4G, and many others then I feel a little sorry for you. You insinuate you're an older person yet never heard of companies checking out major news stories involving recently released products?
-
Really? Trollish? What part? When I questioned you, provided analogies or requested proof? To avoid being challenged, refrain from making grandiose claims. If you are going to make such a claim, be prepared to back it up if you want to be taken seriously. If you ever go to court, please, please record how the Judge, Prosecutor or Defense responds when you state "if you want to know so bad, look it up - the information is out there" ;-) Hopefully this little encounter on an online forum saves you from some embarrassment when working with professionals. Bottom Line: If you make a claim, be prepared to back it up if you want to be taken seriously...this is not trolling, it is merely a statement of fact. :-)

Edited by VisageOfAnAngel: 11/10/2014 7:07:33 PMHow about where you insistently defend a company that isn't actively doing anything about hackers? How about you treating an online forum like it's a court of law. If I am in a formal setting I act formally. Bungie.net is neither formal nor are you a judge. Get off your high horse troll for I am done with you. Toodles. P.S. When one provides video evidence of something it can hardly be deemed a "grandiose claim."

Ana, that is disappointing. I believe that once you felt that you were being attacked (either when I asked for proof or "defended" the game), your defense mechanisms went into overdrive and the assumptions started coming fast and hard...I don't know your background, you don't know of my experiences; kindly take a deep breath, re-read the thread from an objective standpoint and see if your opinion changes. Based on your replies, you must be having a bad day (definitely an assumption, hoping that name-calling and being defensive doesn't occur during your good days). Hope things start looking up for you. ;-)

Edited by Causmadi: 11/10/2014 6:26:29 PMThanks for the link - unless Deej or an employee of Bungie/Activision stated that they were aware of this (via a comment, news broadcast, anything), that is one heck of an assumption believing they knew about it since it was on YouTube. If they were advised directly of this matter or it shows up buried in the Bungie forums, then I agree wholeheartedly; it should of been given priority upon notification. I do, however, believe that their programmers are working extremely hard on fixing this due to the fact that it's a game breaker...I am not so cynical as to believe they were aware of a game breaking exploit and chose not to patch it - it's simply not logical. ;-) Edit: Just watched the video, no information provided on how to mod the game, just that he modified it - seems likely he used a devkit to gain this ability as opposed to entering a sequence of button presses to obtain unlimited ammo (if it is like the old Contra hack where it's button presses, I stand corrected). To me, it's the equivalent of stating "My car goes faster once I take off the catalytic converter, it's the manufacturers fault that I can take it off and gain unfair advantages in Stock races". See what I mean concerning the analogy? It's not something that someone stumbled across during legitimate gameplay; the individual(s) in question made a conscious choice to hack the game to gain an unfair advantage. As others have stated, I hope the ban is permanent so that the cheaters learn the hard lesson that trying to gain an unfair advantage by cheating is not okay.

Edited by VisageOfAnAngel: 11/10/2014 6:39:06 PMThey were quite aware because the YouTuber was banned swiftly. You are interested in this; you can do the research, I have better things to do with my time than being accused of making shit up. As I said, the way the actual game code is set up it's not possible for Bungie to detect this bug. Since they can't detect it "reporting" it has little use because no company will ban players without being able to prove it in fear of A.) Alienating their consumer base and B.) Fear of lawsuits. The people who got banned (actually they are temporary suspensions outside of that first guy) were banned because people posted video proof from PS4 capture software built into the system. The 360/PS3 doesn't have that option so they won't act since the video can theoretically be altered and you go back to the original issue of not being able to technically prove it. Activision doesn't ban CoD players so why would they ban Destiny players? It's all about them making money. Alienating customers loses money. Edit: Excessive heavy ammo and super kills can be tracked. Excessive primary/special ammo kills cannot (since that ammo is quite prevalent in the game). God mode cannot be "confirmed." Using the wrong supers for your class can be easily confirmed (if set up to track that... of course since kills performed by players in your vicinity count towards kills you've performed it might be more difficult to prove). The issues lie at the heart of Destiny's code base and sans a major rewrite of several areas (and months of QA testing) they won't get fixed. Edit 2: Crucible is mostly a P2P system with the servers being used exclusively to set up matches and record results. Unless they modify the code to be strictly server based (and break a bunch of stuff in the process) then it is impossible to fix. If player 1 is running the hacks there is no way for the server to know but player 2-16 that receives only data from them has no choice but to accept what is being sent as genuine game code.

Depends on the offense but they exploited it to better their pvp stats so it should be permanent
