Being in orbit is the most ridiculous waste of time. Please remove it entirely from the game.
Start us in the Tower when we log on, add a room in the Tower that we can go into and select the mission we want to go to and have the ship leave from there. When you finish a mission, you go back to the Tower. The room can be as simple (ie the same menu as orbit), or as nice as you wanted (ie your own ship's command center).
I'm not suggesting any less loading times either, just getting rid of that extra COMPLETELY USELESS step will be a vast improvement for players. Instead of doing Orbit -> Tower -> Orbit -> Mission -> Orbit -> Tower -> Orbit -> Mission -> Orbit -> Mission repeat ad infinitum, it will just be Tower -> Mission -> Tower... it would be a much cleaner system.
Please For The Love Remove Orbit.

Yeah scrap that shit.

The game originally did not have orbit, but the game developers found that the game was not wasting enough time, and that players were starting to have fun. #DestinyLove

Nah. Orbit is cool IMO. I especially love it when my friends are grouping up in the Orbit to do a raid or crucible. Makes for a good "Battlegroup Meet Up." Gets me in the mood for whatevers bout to go down. The Orbit, in my opinion, makes Destiny what it is. But you do have a point about wasting time going back to the tower for turn ins and shit. Which is why they should put a feature to access Ship Command system or some bullshit and you can manage your bounties and other shit from there. Would save us a lot of time and actually make our ships useful for once.

Orbit is a loading screen, that covers up matchmaking and server selection. So you can get rid of the screen...but you aren't going to get rid of the function it serves. ...and I'd rather look at the illusion of my ship traveling from one location to another, than sitting in a lobby looking at a time.

I love the orbit screen, beautiful
-
I love the orbit screen BUT I will agree that when I log in it should just load the tower. I mean, it's where we're all going right!?
-
Orbit takes stress of the destiny servers and are the loading screens
-
I like the orbit... Nice waiting zone for my fireteam and to set my destination. I would love it if you could log-in to tower though
-
I'm a bit surprised they didn't do what kh/kh2 and starfox adventure did where when you travel between planets you fight off hordes of enemy ships and other nonsense optional of coarse Hell they have the space ship battle mission from reach they could you know reinvent that in destiny
-
I agree. But, I'm pretty sure Orbit is there to help pre-load planets. Not 100% though.
-
-
If they get rid of orbit... Where will the error kicked players go? VtxR - PS3
-
Completely agree
-
I dont mind orbit seems realistic since you would have to fly to areas like that in real life.
-
I agree. That first trip to the tower is always painfully long. OR, at least let us choose and turn in bounties from orbit...or do something other than character management
-
They either need to dramatically improve load times or get rid of all the crap in between
-
Much daftness, I am sensing
-
Ok so you finish your gaming session on Mars, you come back the next day and your are magically back on earth..... At the tower, nah, being ported upto your orbiting ship makes more sense
-
People looking for anything to bitch about.

eff that... Remove the Tower. The load time to the Tower is painfully long. The run to the Cryptroll, then bounty asshole, then vendors, is even more time consuming. For a supposed social zone, the tower is useless.. I can point, dance, sit, and wave to fellow guardians. I can try and solicit them too, but na... I'd rather the social zone be a.. ya know... a social zone- where people can discuss things with one another. Naa, Bungie said eff that & now we just have this time-suck called the Tower. So, lets just make all the npcs & our vaults accessible from orbit. Time-suck eliminated. Or they could actually add voice chat to the tower & then remove orbit. Either way, returning to the tower might be the worst part of this game.
-
Remove those stupid missions too. I'm sick of having to go through all that trouble. Just roll the credits when I hit start and then link me directly to an online store to get extended-credit DLC.
