Assigning A Public IP Address

Hey everbody. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but so far I haven't found another active forum that could answer some questions I have. My main question is how do I assign a public IP address to my PS4 without it hindering other devices from connecting to the internet? I want to do this to be able to get an open NAT, since so far the type 2 NAT I've been getting hasn't been cutting it (Immense delay whilst playing Destiny in the crucible, extremely long matchmaking times, etc.). My main problem wasn't necessarily the type 2 NAT, but rather that the Destiny ports I was supposed to open had no effect whatsoever. The ports I have opened for my PS4 are the following: 80, 443, 1935, 3478-3480. ..And the ports I have opened for Destiny are: 3074, 7500-17899, 30000-40399. All these ports are both UDP and TCP since I checked multiple forums, guides and whatnot and some guides said that only some ports needed to be UDP and other TCP, while other guides suggested to just open them all in both UDP and TCP. Anyways, either let me know if there's something wrong with the ports I've opened or help me assign a public IP to my PS4 without it screwing over my other devices. Like I said, so far the PS4 ports have given me a type 2 NAT, which shouldn't have any issues, so I do believe it might be the Destiny ports. I have a Thomson ST585v6 router by the way. Thanks in advance and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this :)

  • You need to go into your router configuration and go to whatever option is along the lines of "reserve an ip/address" and hit add, enter the Mac # of your ps4 and the other information it asks for and assign a number that isn't being used for another connected device usually 192.168.1.22 or something is high enough to not be in use. Your ps4 should auto update the info if not enter manually. I had some difference when I did that/ports/mtu of 1492 instead of 1500
