Join the fight to save Destiny longevity!!! proximity chat = stronger social community/makes easier to make new friends to raid with = longevity

dont forget to send the link to this post to @DeeJ_BNG and @Bungie on twitter if you agree! Wow guys the support for this thread is absolutely overwhelming, I just want you to know I love ya guys, I'm sorry if this post comes over a little "Jerkish" (not a word) I wrote it fresh off the beta and I was little upset by the non social aspect of this "social shooter" and just wanted Bungie to know How I felt. It's simply not fair to create a game like this with limited social interaction especially when we need to make new friends for raiding etc... Let's fight, fight fight until we are heard! We are here to stay Bungie, the true majority! Those of us who haven't given up on the true multiplayer experience just because a couple of negative Nacy's want to put all gamers in a box! Most gamers are actually quite pleasant people! The mute button is for those who choose to Troll! This is but the first assault of the solo gamers to destroy Destiny like they have MMOs in the past by turning it into a completely non social experience! Do not listen to the doubters true multiplayer gamers want to easily talk to others and meet new ppl and prox chat makes that all the more easier. Please vote on this poll here! 88% so far want prox chat!!!! http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/65476031/0/0 What lazy design Bungie, so you have a few introverts who don't want to meet new friends within the game space so the whole community should suffer so these people don't have to lift their fingers to press a mute button. There is not a single thing that anyone could say that would explain this being fair, you basically penalized social people to appease non social people who you could have easily appeased with the ability to mute individuals or toggle chat off completely. If you do decide to add prox chat to the game as you should, please make it the default so new players won't come into this social experience thinking no one wants to talk to them, if it is not the default many new players will not know its there and will assume nothing has changed since the beta and the social experience will suffer for it, however those who don't want to chat will definitely looks for a toggle off switch . People who only want to play and talk to there friends already have party and fireteam chat and again you can give them a mute option or chat off option as well. More ppl should be like this man! A feature that's not for you, but doesn't hurt others (with a mute button) should not be excluded just cause!
I'm fine with this, don't really care, i'll still keep the mute on either way. I'm sure bungie realizes this, i doubt they are not going to implement for those reasons

I'm actually surprised theirs no proximity chat or zone chat its my biggest problem with the game why even have a tower with 12 other people if no body can communicate also text chat really everyone got mics with there system this would be a useless addition

I hope Bungie at least decides to give us an option to turn it on or off. There's valid arguments on both sides, so at least give us the option to decide for ourselves.
Great counter point here to those who think the current system is social enough
When was the last time you accepted a random game invite?
Good point here
AGREED. Prox chat should be in! Arguments to the contrary have no validity, why? With the appropriate options everyone gets it their way. People opposing chat options are one of two things, lazy "i'm to lazy to toggle chat on/off" "i'm already in a FT/raid group and can't hear you anyway" or outright d!cks! Prox chat/chat options have been a staple (granted not without their issues) of multiplayer gaming for years now. But to roll up to the next gen and throw the baby out with the bathwater seems like overkill to me, and i would bet many others. Your welcome.

To the vocal minority opposing proximity chat... The most common argument in opposition to prox chat seems to be, "just wave and invite them to your FT." Easier said than done, for example. I must have run ten strike missions, and through matchmaking was grouped with twenty other guardians over the course of those ten missions. As a rule, i would wave, buddy jump, and quickly send FT invites to my strike mates, to better coordinate, call for revival etc. etc. during said strike. Of those twenty guardians, two from separate strikes joined my FT. Now, your experience may have been much different in comparison to mine, but that does not change MY experience. What a terrible ratio!!! You can argue, and rationalize all you want. It was like pulling teeth. The system for communication in destiny is a glaring mistake (imho) in an otherwise amazing product. I feel as a community we should be given an official vote handled by bungie for the definitive consensus we deserve on this major issue. I hope i didn't offend anyone, lol. Thank you.
• The fact this thread even exists is retarded. Someone in Bungie had the biggest failure in logic in recent gaming memory. "Oh, it's to eliminate trolling!" That's so weak man. The mute botton exists for stupid troll kiddies. Multiple different options for how proximity chat is handled/limited to bypasses that entire arguement. The final nail in the coffin came form a comment in the provided polling link form OP.
One feature I would add to the prox. chat is a kind of karma system where if someone gest muted by some number of people in a period of time that they are muted in-game for everyone except for players in their fire team if they are in one. Over time their Karma would get better and they would be unmuted until they would get muted enough to go over the threshold again.
Please Bungie. You heard us about the Space Wizard. You did the ice bucket challenge. Let us be the type of creature that we all are at our core: Social. Games amazing! But Having to shoot some random kid on the map repeatedly to get his attention, then shoot at a corner of the map repeatedly again to convey, "Hey I found a chest! Let's share the loot!" Gets real old.
