Scientists force fish out of water, it learns to walk

As far as we can tell, life began in the ocean. At some point, life left the ocean and all the various land animals branched off. In one of the crazier chapters in our evolutionary history, a fish learned to walk and breath air. Now, scientists get to see first hand how they did it. Certain fish have both lungs and gills, allowing them to live outside of water, but they aren't particularly good at getting around. It turns out, if you force them to live on land, they can adapt quite nicely, and even undergo significant changes even in their lifetime to adapt to the environment. This shows that the idea of an ancient fish making it's way on to land and transforming into the variety of four-limbed creatures we know today isn't far-fetched at all. To the contrary, it's far easier than we ever thought.
