Eh... I dunno... Uniform policy can get a bit insane at time (When I was in school there were even limits to how thick your belt could be...).
As for outside of school... To be honest there isn't any reason people should judge her for her clothing choices, people wear what they think makes them look good or what they feel comfortable in, kind of a dick move to have a go at someone for it.

Right... But in this hypothetical world where I have a teenage daughter the odds are she knows her own mind and the modern fashion a lot better than I do, she can wear what she wants, my job would be to deal with the people who had a problem with that...

I have a daughter and there is -blam!-ing way she's wearing that I wouldn't defend her like you said you would that's plain stupid its a time and place for everything
