some times i wonder how people dont even let an OPTION to be in place. i mean you can still plan out your raids with people you know. no one is forcing you to MM. If others fail... what is it to you? like does it ruin your expieriance? "people will cry about nefing the raids" its gonna happen anyway whether its MM or not. "they will make raids easier" Why would bungie do that? cuz Blizzard did it on WOW? Why should Bungie nerf it when its supose to be hard? "the loot will be more accessible to others" people want a balanced MP right? "not everyone is meant for raids" but they should at least be given a chance.

  • MMO style games (and many other games) work on the principal of "carrot on a stick". That sweet loot or enticing boss kill or faction reward exotic is dangled in front of the player and they strive to reach and devour that carrot. Often, when that carrot is fought hard for and a struggle was needed to reach it, it tastes oh so sweet. Now in the matter of MM for raids, the devs fully believe that people using a MM function to access that content will only ever taste the bitterness of defeat. They have a reason for believing that and in their minds, providing a carrot that you CAN'T POSSIBLY REACH is a far worse scenario than requiring an obstacle to work around before being able to feasibly begin to chase that sweet, sweet carrot. The "option" you're asking for is basically asking the devs to create an option for people to have a headache and a reason to give up on raiding because no matter how hard they try, they will never reach that carrot in MM and guess what, exactly how many people do you think would choose MM instead of forming up with friends if it were available? Suddenly a LARGE percentile of the Destiny population would choose to try MM instead of forming up and that same percentile will walk away with that bitter taste of defeat instead of those who would have formed up and had a higher probability for success. Why create something that (in the creator's minds) would be met with disdain and salty feelings? That just sounds like a bad business decision.

Stop being lazy and spend 2 minutes making a group. Finding 6 people is a joke. You would have room to complain if these raids required 40+ people. If you're not willing to put in any effort, why should Bungie bend over backward to give you access to content you don't deserve?

  •
"not everyone is meant for raids" but they should at least be given a chance.
They have the chance to do so, but to utilize that chance requires them to meet the game half way so to speak. Once you've met the requirements you can go raid until your heart's content.

  •
There is nothing inherently wrong with having content in a game made for a specific kind of player, nor is it inherently wrong that that content is only accessible to the kind of player it is intended for
Did you even read what he had to say? This is his point. If you're unable or unwilling to find people to play with then raids are not for you because finding people to play with is just a taste of the teamwork that will be required. That's fine, they're plenty of other parts of the game that are available. Also, don't use the "why can't we have the option?" argument. Matchmaking is always an option. You never have to use it. By adding it in you're not giving matchmaking to people, you're taking away from those who want the full challenge of the raid. You're making it easily accessible when just getting there should be part of the challenge.
