Your Favorite Game(s)!
Destiny is right around the corner, and if there is one thing it appears to have done particularly well, is that it seamlessly combines features from other game genres and mixes them beautifully into one.
Now obviously, we're all here because we enjoy gaming. And Destiny has drawn a lot of attention from its ability to highlight some of the greatest features from other genres, and from games that we all used to love to play. So, in short... What games led you to this point in your own personal gaming timeline? What have you played since your earliest recollection of gaming, that kept you going as a gamer? What features do you prefer that from specific genres that you somewhat see mirrors in Destiny, that make Bungie's next title seem all the more appealing?

Personally, I've always been a huge fan of character customization. KOTOR was, and still is one of my favorite titles of all time. It blended action and RPG elements perfectly, not to mention the incredible story. So when Bungie introduced armor customization in Halo 3, I was very pleased. Nothing like making your own unique Spartan to enter into the online battlefield. Having a sense of "identity", something that separated your character from the crowd, is just something I really appreciate having in a game.
Halo: CE had a fantastic and extremely fluid combat system that evolved for the better over each iteration of the franchise. Simplistic controls and exciting gunplay that never seemed to get boring. Great weapon design, great sound, great feel. That's part of why the game was able to keep me glued. Destiny seems to keep with the trend, but with an extremely refreshing feel, which is awesome.

I'll go by developer: Bungie: Destiny (based solely on how I felt playing the Beta, but it's fairly safe for me to include it here), the Halo series with Halo 3 and ODST being my favorite amongst those. Nintendo: Pretty much anything revolving around their classic franchises with Super Mario 3D World, Metroid Prime and Wind Waker being my current favorites. Naughty Dog: Jak & Daxter series, Uncharted 1 & 3, The Last of Us Insomniac: Ratchet & Clank series, Resistance 2 (much better game than it gets credit for I think, still haven't played 3) Konami: Contra 3: The Alien Wars, Castlevania 2: Simon's Curse, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, Aria of Sorrow (I haven't played anything after that one unfortunately, so I can't comment). Capcom: Bionic Commando NES & Re:Armed (developed by Grin), Mega Man, Mega Man X, Breath of Fire 2 & 4, Aliens vs. Predator, Final Fight, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Street Fighter: Third Strike, Darkstalkers, Dragon's Dogma, Resident Evil 2, 3, 4 & Code: Veronica, Captain Commando, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Demon's Crest, Strider, Power Stone and countless others I can't remember. Forgot how prolific Capcom was. Sega: Virtua Fighter 3 & 4, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, Chakan the Forever Man, Phantasy Star 1, 2 & 3 (2 was by far the best and I never had a chance to play 4), Nigths Into Dreams, Fantasy Zone, Revenge of the Shinobi, Shadow Dancer, Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master; OutRun, Daytona, Crazy Taxi series, Jet Set Radio Future, GunValkyrie, Panzer Dragoon 1,2 and Saga, Shining and the Darkness, Shining Force, Shining Force 3-1 (I don't think parts 2 and 3 were ever localized), Phantasy Star Online ver. 1 & 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Streets of Rage, Legend of Oasis, Beyond Oasis and again countless others. Sucker Punch: Sly Cooper, Infamous 1 & 2 thatgamecompany: Flow, Flower and Journey Sony (for all of their Sony named studios or studios I can't remember): Primal, Legend of the Dragoon, God of War 1-3 and Ascension, Wipeout 1, XL, Pure and 2048, War of the Monsters, Warhawk, Starhawk, Fat Princess, Soundshapes, Drakan: The Ancient's Gates and many others. There's a ton of them, but you only have to look at the one at the very beginning of the list to see where my heart lies currently. ;-)
