CoD most "Popular", Halo is still the Icon

So I was just looking through the BBC website and a article appeared about somebody talking about their top 5 games, the picture accompanying the article was the Master Chief. It seems even though everybody and their grandma knows about Call of Duty, Halo still has something CoD does not, the eye and memory of an entire Generation and is a generational Icon like Mario and Sonic before. Do you you think Call of Duty could ever claim the same privilege that Halo has or is their no character for people to identify with preventing it to be lifted to a similar position?

  • Nah. It's very obvious that Call of Duty is the Transformers of video games. Every character is pretty much voiced by a celebrity. There isn't much depth or characterization to them. When I see a Call of Duty character I see a typical soldier. Someone I don't care about in terms of entertainment. While the franchise succeeds in delivering high paced action that is somewhat fueled by the actors performances, I don't see anything resembling the iconic prowess of Halo. Maybe in the days when Call of Duty was honorable and based it's games on veterans, but not today.
