Xbox's Silver Lining and an End to Arguing

In light if the recent announcement and subsequent arguments over the exclusive Destiny content for PS4, there is a silver lining for those of us on Xbox. Destiny is, among many things, about creating a Guardian. What this exclusive content effectively does is make the vast majority of people on PS4 start their journeys the same way. They've simply hand-picked some weapons and armor from the game to give to PS4 players at the start. This hurts the individuality of the game in a way because instead of fufilling the idea of seeing a Guardian's achievements by just looking at them, you'll see a lot of players (originally) sporting the "exclusive" content. You might be saying, "Well once you level up people will wear better armor and use better weapons", but the thing is Xbox players don't have to deal with any of that. Our experience will be as authentic, vanilla, and realistic to lore as it can possibly be, and to me that's just as valuable as having exclusives that most PS4 players will be eager to take off after a few hours of gameplay, especially considering how ideological and devoted we are to Bungie here on their forums. This is definately an optimistic, glass half-full view, but to all Xbox players, just forget about the exclusive content and only worry about Xbox. You won't notice it's gone because it was never there in the first place. And to all the PS4 players, rub the exclusives in our face, you've earned the right. I genuinely hope you enjoy Destiny and the exclusives you receive, and I welcome you to the Bungie family. It's been a long time coming. This argument over exclusive content it exactly as if the Xbox players are the older sibling who is being "ignored" by their parents for a newborn sibling. In reality, the parents are only trying to nurture the baby and establish a relationship. I hope Xbox players can take a step back and understand why Bungie is doing what they're doing; after ten years of unaccomodation for the Playstation, they throw themselves with arms wide open at them to welcome them. We're better than this. Or at least we used to be. Can we end this argument and get ready for the Beta? Its less than a month away and we cannot have a house divided, for Bungie's sake.

I'm shedding my one tear equals thousands right now. I've never read a more right, just, and thoughtful lecture. You are right; all you can hope for is that all the other Xbox players read this and understand. Thank you and I hope to see YOU star side my friend. GT conair117

Not to try to go against your entire post, but when did Bungie ever say that the exclusive stuff Playstation is getting is low level or early game stuff that we will simply end up ditching later on for better equipment? What if the items are mid-game or late-game items? Or what if the level of items you get scales depending on your level? In the Alpha I got repeats of the same exact weapon a few times and the stats would be different for each one, even though they were the same exact weapon (same name, same type of weapon. In my case it was an auto rifle). I would say that people need to end the arguing and bashing because its just a video game. Some Xbox players say that Bungie sided with "the enemy" and that they "betrayed" Xbox players. There is no enemy. There is no betrayal. These terms are nothing but fanboy console war nonsense. This isn't war. This isn't a drama. Its just video games. Bottom line, the community just needs to move on from this. Just enjoy the game. Or don't, whichever, it just needs to stop either way.

First off, I'm an Xbox player so my view of this is certainly biased, but here's my two cents on the situation. Yes, Bungie should fully support the Play Station consoles. Yes they should make sure their relationship with the Play Station Community is secure, but will giving exclusive access of the Alpha, an early Beta, and gear to the Play Station players make that bond stronger? Absolutely. But you know what would have made the Play Station community love Bungie the same way the Xbox community has? Just making a good game for EVERYONE to play. I don't think PS4 players would turn away from the game just because people on Xbox played the Alpha at the same time, started the beta at the same time, or got the same pre-order gear. There are a few things I can understand though. The Alpha exclusivity could be purely because they want to slowly introduce players to test server strength (an apparently growing problem with recent game releases); same thing for early beta access. However, the one thing I don't quite understand is the secrecy behind the Xbox Beta date. As most gamers know, the word "soon" can indicate a wide variety of time frames. I don't mind the waiting; in fact I think I enjoy that the most, but id like to know how long I'm waiting. Right now I have the 17th marked on my calendar, but I know that when that day comes around I will not get to take in the magnificent view of the city that rests below the Traveler, or challenge hordes of Fallen amongst the rusted wreckage littered throughout Old Russia. In the meantime I'll be watching live streams of Play Station players yet again starting their beautiful journey as Guardians of the last city, and every streamer will say "I know this game looks good, but you really can't truly understand and enjoy Destiny until you get hands on yourself!". I mean is to too much to ask that your Xbox fans get something? Even an approximate date for the Xbox Beta would suffice. I know the game will role around eventually and we'll all begin our journey to become Legend, but I'm concerned that because of Bungie's deal with Play Station, this exclusiveness is only the beginning. I'd like to hope that eventually everyone will be on the same page with DLC release dates, but that seems unlikely. I get it, the fact that Bungie has to focus on the Play station community for several reasons, but could you at least give the Xbox fans something, anything, to show that you love us just as much as we love you? Anyway, that's how I feel, and I'd bargain to say that most Xbox players feel the same way.

      • Agreed, exclusive gear and ships ruin the sense of individuality within a shared world that I want from destiny, if someone were to share my armour or guns I'd want it to be purely coincidental rather than as a result of DLC, I'm a PS3 user by the way

      • I'm on PS4 and I agree. Like Deej said, I don't want to look at my gear and weapons and think, "yea...I got it in DLC." Thats lame. I wanna think back to epic boss battles, crucible matches, raids, etc. I'm not looking forward to seeing every other Warlock looking the same. I only hope that we have to first achieve a certain level before equipping this gear. Good thing though is that the upgrading in this game is ridiculously addicting. I highly doubt anyone will have the armor equipped for long.

      • don't get me wrong, exclusive DLC is -blam!-ing dumb. on the other hand it seems like the complaints are coming from Xbox fans come off as entitled. so many years of getting timed content and games have jaded them. now that the shoe is on the other foot, they come out of the woodwork with complains of the developers ignoring them. was GTA4 episodes, CoD map packs, Skyrim DLC, Fallout3 DLC, PLantVSZombies:GW 6 month exclusive, Peggle2 XX month exclusive, Evolve beta, Division DLC, DragonAge DLC not enough? -blam!-ing entitlement right there.

      • You welcome ps4 to bungie, but you've got to realize, bungie's respect for microsoft ran thin. They are no longer bound to xbox, and they can freely make games for sony as well. The exclusive stuff is badass for us ps4 owners, but like you said, it wont be a loss for you guys since you dont start with them or anything. I think they plan moving the content over to xbox at some point.

      • I get the point about the equipment. In the end you won't use it. It doesn't show what you have accomplished. What about the strike mission and multiplayer map.

I'm only interested in Exotic loot anyways, so the Early DLC shit will be for kids, but not getting the Beta at the same time was a low blow. In a year, we'll be cross platform anyways, so it's whatever.

Im so sick of people complaing about timed exclusive content the xbox has had timed exclusive content for years get over it you blaming winers. Why do you people complain about it seriously? And savor the experience ha! You wouldnt be saying that if you liked the PS4 you people are like kids in a classroom playing cock of the walk and when you find out your dicks smaller youll go ahead and justify it with "oh ill savor having to start from the bottom ,but itll make the journey all the more worth while" please dont make me laugh, because no it wont you full of yourselves. If you were on the other "side" (I use that term loosely) you would be saying well we get exclusive content early with which to to get ahead start which puts us ahead of PS4 players. Now that your on the receiving end of things its ill make excuses to make myself still look good. No one single person cares its a timed exclusive you still get the content, honestly I would prefer that they get a permanent excluisve to get rid of this argument, your usual arguments of "well xbox players have been their support base and we deserve their content" jesus get out of here you women, further more no xbox isnt their support base they have a large support base across the board, xbox players are no more entitled to catering than play station for the simple historical fact that the PC and Mac owners who were not even so much as even given a game for some of the Halos' and the new Destiny game were completely forgotten. You get the game now shut the hell up and wait for you content and stop making excuses like your protecting your egos. You guys are something between a absolute benign stupidity, and the crusty saliva that builds up on the coner of your lips on a hot day when your thirsty. What do I mean by that I mean that no one really cares their more likely to acknowledge you when you come up with a better argument, because otherwise people are going to think of you as an annoyance to just be wiped away. Yes I took the time to write that im sick of xbox players feeling so entitled to stupid shit.

          • I agree. My thing is Bungie is wanting Destiny to grow over the nxt 10 years. Imagine the wealth of content that will flow forth. It makes the handful of Items the PS players will get seem insignificant at best.

          • Why is it that everyone acts as though the gear and weapons will be given out at start? There is no evidence to support this claim. I believe this won't just be a handout, it means that PS4 players will have this stuff available to them in the game the same way other gear is. On the PS4 you can find/buy (depending) the exclusive gear the same way you would everything else, the difference being Xbox players won't have this opportunity until the timing on the timed exclusive ends.

            • Have they even come out and said the PS players will START with this equipment? That would be the only way that this could possibly "cheapen the experience". I thought the (timed) exclusive weapons and armor were gained by playing the exclusive strike. Why would Bungie even bother releasing "starter gear" to XBox a year after launch? It just makes sense to have this gear only drop from that particular strike. Having the gear drop in the strike wouldn't cheapen the experience. It would still be something we earned.

            • great thread for once this forum has gotten a bit bland with all the even I in my haste was mad at first but i came to the same conclusion you have. That its never gonna affect my gameplay as no one on xbox will have it, even if it wasnt timed (which at this point we arent gonna use it after a year so it might as well be) and most PSN players wont use it after there first session of playing.

All I see when I open the forums is: -blam!- you PS or Why Bungie?! and I'm honestly bored of it now, we should be welcoming PS to the family, and as you said, they're only going to wear the armour for a few hours and then they'll find cooler, stronger armour to wear instead! Can we please just stop this massive fight over nothing?!

It's ppl like you that fume the flames nothing more nothing less. It's like ppl like you are trying there best to find something to complain about . Some games get promoted on one system others not, some get exclusive content some not. I commend bungie for putting the game on al 4 platforms. But they still need money to develop the game. So money coming in benefits al of us regardless of what platform you play on. Flame, rage al you want in my mind the glass is always half full not half empty as in your case Regards
