I'm reading the YouTube comments, and some of them are negative. Why?
It looks totally ridiculous. (Thats saying alot from some one who enjoyed the very originals) Parachuting soldiers with a giant monster destroying a city? LOL yah sure. Looks to action packed (as in Shaking camera and quick movements from explosion to explosion.) And to be honest I like the 1998 Godzilla too.
No... just no. I don't even...

it's toho. seriously, we have a fanbase more toxic, troll infested, and negative than bioware's, infinity ward's, and 343's combined. like when the image of goji in the city was leaked yesterday. "godzilla's gonna walk on all fours the movie's doomed." -_-

Most people don't want it to be like the 1998 movie. Judging from the few comments I've read, people are afraid of: - The army killing Godzilla in some USA patriotic jerkfest. (Also the presumed American setting doesn't help). - Too much shaky cam/explosions. - Too much human drama. - Too much Godzilla in the trailer. - Too little Godzilla in the trailer But I trust Gareth Edwards. I'd be utterly astonished if he did any injustice to Goji.
-The army killing Godzilla in some USA patriotic jerkfest.
pure drivel. "We’ve taken it very seriously and the theme is man versus nature and Godzilla is certainly the nature side of it. You can’t win that fight. Nature’s always going to win and that’s what the subtext of our movie is about." no military's gonna bring down godzilla. as they shouldn't.
(Also the presumed American setting doesn't help).
we've already had set photos in japan, and mutoresearch.net gives some interesting results when you enter tokyo.
- Too much shaky cam/explosions.
we saw a grand total of one explosion. shaky cam is only in the action scenes too. aside from that it's smooth sailing.
- Too much human drama.
just like gojira 1954, where there were a total of 15 or so minutes of godzilla. i'm not saying that this movie should approach action the same way, but that the focus on human drama is a hallmark of '54. especially with dr. serizawa (who is in this film!).
- Too much Godzilla in the trailer.
like eighteen seconds and we still don't get a truly good look at him
- Too little Godzilla in the trailer
like eighteen seconds more of the final godzilla than we had a day ago
But I trust Gareth Edwards. I'd be utterly astonished if he did any injustice to Goji.
me too. he's like a fanboy making a movie for fanboys. and he has this awkward charm to him that just makes me wanna hug him XD
