3 guardians to a "fire team" yes?
Now, I see the chatter amongst you for disappointment in how Bungie is putting 3 man fire teams together. Some of you feel this is too little and is counterintuitive to the way Destiny should be played - with friends.
I am afraid we don't have the entire picture. The information that we know, is just as important as the information we don't know.
As for Destiny's party system, I feel that it will be similar to Halo Reach's Invasion style. Ahhh, yes. Remember Halo Reach Invasion? You had a "battle bro" that you were teamed with throughout the match. You had their waypoint on them all the time, you could even spawn on your bro, coop style.
But you still had a 6 man team all together. With as big as a world Destiny is, there is no way you can have teams of 50 people going together, all on the same chat channel, all communicating effectively. Bungie decided to break it down, in a much simpler form.
In Destiny, I believe that your "fire team" will be your "battle bros". You will communicate exclusively with those members (mind you will still have party chat/private chat), but overcome obstacles with a larger team - again, similar to Halo Reach's Invasion.
Who knows, maybe the development of Invasion was a nod to Destiny's fire team mechanic for Destiny. Bungie knows what they're doing.
In essence, we know that fire teams consist of 3 players. What we DON'T know is how many fire-teams can cultivate and work together to accomplish missions in or out of public events. So for those of us that enjoy "big team battles" and chaos in fictional settings. Sit tight.
Stay classy 7th Column.

Edited by Draevynn95: 10/16/2013 4:12:51 AMWell, so far 7 players at a time are confirmed with gameplay. That means 2 full fireteams and a loner. So I'm assuming 9 players will be possible as well because of the straggler.

And now I'm having daydreams of 50 guardians just absolutely murdering a group of fallen. What even better is I see it working like the roman legions of old. The titans have gauntlet shields, marching their way forward. Hunters take up position over the titans. Then you have warlocks gliding up and unleashing nova bombs. The level of catastrophe cause is incredible.

Mass Effect proves the 3-man fireteam works. :)
-
Lol third wheels
-
I love you
-
People thought that was bad? I always thought that it was cool.
-
Good point I agree...
-
Kinda like battlefield 4 beta squads I think is what your saying oh and does anybody know why the battlefield 4 beta is down look at date this posted before replying or is it just in Norfolk England this is happening because me and my friends can't play
-
i agree.
-
Well in some old video there was a lobby with the option to 6 players so there IS a chance we can half two fire teams working together outside public events
-
Nice post. We need more people to verbalize like this.
-
I agree with you my good sir.
-
I thought that somewhere said that two fire teams make a "fire squad". 6 People together...
-
I think a three man fire-team is perfect. With more people comes instability and inefficient tactical approach. It would be extremely hectic that's what the events are for. It's that exciting moment when you are traveling with your team and then BOOM! 20 people running around blowing up the map.
-
Edited by TheSilverElite: 9/22/2013 8:23:45 PMActually, I never thought it was bad.
-
I think 5 would be perfect, enough people so you get a variety of classes most likely, also it opens for when the expansions/sequels of destiny come out... when there will undoubtedly more than 3 classes to choose from.

They say Destiny isn't an mmo but there are too many elements to ignore. What I mean is to have an always on online world you need away to communicate with people. So looking at any other mmo there will be Party chat= in your group (fireteam) Raid chat= I assume is going to be your squad or whatever they will call it when multiple people group up 2 or 3 fireteams. If not not Guild chat = your team of individuals forming groups now Generally chat= being able to chat with everyone in the zone or section or again whatever they want to call it Trade chat= alk those who are in the different cities on the plantets This is the blocks of keeping people connected all those other always on online worlds like wow, star wars, FFXIV etc. Not saying they will use this but if it's not working don't fix it. Improve if possible though.
-
So what your letting us have is 3 people in a fire team but if we wanted to we could have to fire teams in the same Xbox live party and team up like that.
-
Hopefully that won't be a static number. I have a close group I game with, if we have to exclude a person from the fire team... well egos may be bruised.
-
Well I see the point. I don't have friends playing so I will be all alone.
-
I never thought about the invasion connection. That could be pretty sweet to have another fire team working simultaneously to unlock part I a level so you can move deeper into the level. I can't wait to see how it all works, and your right about the importance of what we don't know.
-
Edited by wolfregamer98: 9/12/2013 1:52:11 PMBut in a video we can see 3 of 6 3/6 Fire team players
-
Good point, I myself have no problem with a 3 man fire team because if you play some games there overcrowded and it's a bugger to rack up some kills, but I think 3 will be fine especially since the bigger fights have more than one fire team in :D
-
they probably have an ally system for fire teams and clans. that would allow people to group together multiple teams, but in battle, they work effectively as smaller groups part of a whole.

Cool thoughts man
