Steam account is broken

I linked a steam account to my bungie account a couple of year back, however it does not work when I try and use it now. It appears that the steam account is a Different account with the same name, not allowing me to verify it. As it stands, my only way to play on PC is re purchasing all of the DLCs through the Microsoft store, which I don't want to do, and would rather get them on steam when they go on sale. Additionally, after searching for the account, and finding nothing, I can only come to the conclusion that I made it years ago as a burner, and deleted it after linking it without even finishing setup. If anyone could reach out to me with a way to get this nonexistent account removed from bungies website, that would be great, so I could go back to playing this game. I cant even go into the cross save settings to try disable it or something, because this damn steam account that DOSENT EXIST, needs authentication. How can I authenticate something that does not exist... Edit: After looking at other posts about the same thing, I am being driven mad because it appears that the help forums just has a random person post a link to a bungie article that says they disabled unlinking cross save last year. So it seems like this issue is impossible to fix since there is no way to get in contact with anyone who can actually make a difference..

Hey there. As you saw from those other posts, it is no longer possible to unlink accounts as of March 2025. So even if you could authenticate the account, all you could do there is cancel cross-save, you still could not unlink the old Steam account after that, to link a new one. That response you saw is not being posted as a prank. It is, unfortunately, the answer for now. Bungie are not making exceptions to the policy and will not unlink accounts on their end under any circumstances. Bungie may reply to this post but it will only be to confirm what I've mentioned.
