On steam it only shows BattEye? And if they use in house anticheat then it is even easier to add linux support?

Enlighten me then how does software development work? Cause from what I know to enable BattlEye on linux it's just one toggle on the dashboard, and the game already runs great thru Proton thanks to the efforts Steam puts into Linux gaming.

oh its simple. Bungie said no support for linux. They feel that the dedication of resources to dev for an additional platform, one that their kernal level anticheats would be even less effective is not worth the potential gain of a handful of players. Let alone the resources needed to uptrain and add load to their QA, Player Support, and Security teams. Then you factor in the resources needed to expand their Knowledge base articles for the 32 flavors of Linux. At the end of the day, to gain what would likely amount to less than one percent of new paying players, they determined their resources were better spent elsewhere.

Proton isnt magic. The "switch" would only allow Battleye to funciton (in a reduced capacity). This does not account for the additional dev time for their own in house anticheat(s), support structures for the game itself including up training staff on the qa, support, and security. It is not just a switch. They added support for Epic games and that is litterally just putting it on another store and they have to handle the on going support. There is 0 benefit for them to support linux. Sad, but true. There isnt enough to gain. Linux has too small of a market share to be worth the headaches, look at Apex, they launched support and then walked it back due to the resources it consumed (mainly battling cheats). The very freedom that a subsect of pc users want in linux is the very thing preventing most devs from deving their games.
