Every single game has this disclaimer on startup, but I cannot for the life of me think of a situation where this would happen, short of a power cut.
Maybe it was more of a problem in the past when autosave first came about, but it’s 2024 people.
Like, what?

I think that it started on PCs in the early days. You'd sit there and wonder if the danged thing was doing something or frozen - again! Do I wait or do I restart it was an everyday thing.

I was going to say I think it's just a reminder that the game is saving since often times, a game will have a little symbol or icon of sorts to indicate auto save in progress and a player might forget, but even if that's the case, saying "don't turn console off" isn't needed as that's pretty obvious unless it's literally your first time playing a game with auto save

You’d be surprised…

Of course, basically no one does ‘cause we’re all used to it, but from the perspective of a first time gamer it’s a nice little note to have. Otherwise you simply may not know.

I certainly don't. To be honest, it's not uncommon for me to turn my system off during a thunderstorm just in case. We lose power from time to time, and I find it unnerving to see that notification saying my system "Was turned off incorrectly and saved data may have been corrupted."
