I wonder how they should be balanced? Maybe based on comp rank. The higher comp ranks match with eachother

You understand that comp has so little meaning that most people dont bother with it so that system wouldnt really work. Even if it was implemented people would just throw comp matches to lose rep and get easy games or they just wouldnt play comp which would lead to things being the exact same as they are now. The other issue is that is essentially asking for a form of SBMM, matching via rank in a mode that uses RBMM essentially means matching by skill as usually most people in a given rank are of roughly the same skill. Matching via skill does not and will not work for Trials given the main goal is to go flawless (11% using both mercies and 0.7125% without a mercies) it would make the title impossible.

I’m also not asking to match by skill. I’m dead against that in trials due to maths (as you said). I’m saying the matchmaking tries to group 3 players together based on their comp rank and matching them randomly against another team who have been grouped together on their rank.

In that case you could easily be bronze matching adepts and ascendants all weekend which wouldnt be good for the population. Comp rank is also a show of skill now thanks to the change over from SBMM to RBMM, as you climb the ranks games get harder and harder until you get hard-stuck at a certain rank. Matching using that rank system is also to an extent SBMM as it is matching partially on skill given the rank determines the skilllevel of the player. If you only matched players in your rank then games would be to close to just having standard SBMM and due to limited player pools youd need to match outside which would mostly lead to any lower ranks just getting stomped. Trials probably works better now given not everyone engages with Comp as a mode, so that pool would be completely random still anyway. Also the current way of matchmaking allows for lower skilled players to still have a chance at winning if they match with high skilled players against low to mid skilled players. Trials matchmaking overall is too delecate to change much with as a simple change can double the playerbase or remove everyone from it.

Yeh I think bronze players shouldn’t be able to go flawless unless they get lucky

Thats how it works now. Bad players wont go flawless without getting carried or without getting increadebly lucky.

Yeh sadly. I think persistence was the best compromise they could have made but lower skilled players still don’t see happy with this.

Its because wins arent just handed out. The players who complain about it on these forums are the kind of people who wont be happy until everything gets handed to them

Or that people would want to climb comp in order to get better team mates in trials
