If they didn't slow people, then they would be pointless in pvp since you could easily escape the blind effect and they are the weakest melee in game only dealing 50 damage (I think 65 with dot that was recently added) but without the slow effect, you'd only take 1 or 2 damage ticks from the dot.

I believe that does 65-70 on a hit vs. guardians, and in pve, it's much stronger vs. combatants.

True, that is a conundrum, and the other effects need to be buffed or built upon. Sound like the whole process would constitute being a minor rework

Agreed. It would need some big tuning. One thought is to make the poison heavily escalate if someone stays in, or additional effects. But what's here right now just doesn't make any sense flavorfully or sensically
