Grind inconsistency is what stops me from playing.

Whenever something new releases, when GMs drop, etc, I’m all in. How long I stay is dependent on how reasonable a grind is. There are certain areas of the game where it’s good, and some where it’s atrocious. The game goes from reasonable grind to absolutely awful waste of time from one activity to the next. It goes from players being able to earn the ability to reasonably target exactly what they want to a near complete lack of control from one activity to the next. Why the gross inconsistency? Raids have both focusing and crafting. Dungeons have neither. In less than 30 runs of two raids combined I can craft my god rolls for all the raid weapons I want from those two raids. Yet I have run two specific dungeon encounters for two weapons near 100 times each and I have absolutely nothing to show for it. Who thought this massive inconsistency was good design? Why does Iron Banner drop 15+ pieces of regular crucible gear for every 1 piece of actual Iron Banner gear? Why can we only get IB engrams from rank ups instead of also as match completion drops like we can with defiant engrams? Why does a playlist activity not always drop a piece of its own gear upon completion? Why is this game so stingy with loot in some areas and not others? I used to be excited about dungeons but they have proven so fundamentally unrewarding that I’m not anymore. I haven’t seen a single desires dungeon weapon roll across all dungeons save for the one I could actually craft. No one I play with wants to run dungeons anymore because of how unrewarding they are. Grinds with no visible progress feel bad. Grinds with no way to earn the ability to eventually target what you want feel bad. Make dungeon weapons craftable. Make playlist activities guarantee their unique drops upon completion. Please stop throttling loot in this loot game. Trust in your content that people will play it for fun, because they will. I play more when I can see and earn progress towards what I want and then actually use it. I play more when I feel like jumping in to help someone else get what they want will actually make it worth it for them because it helps them progress towards targeting what they want.
