Commendations are defeating solo players
I have over 2000 hours in this game and this season has been so bad. Using a ranking level just makes players feel worse when they don't have the time to grind. Now that the ranking is tied into commendations which is linked to non solo play, it's become such a drag. Plus, a lot of the time, even if you bust your -blam!- in a match, half of the time people don't even leave the commendations. Just a stupid idea to tie advancement to this.

You don't raid and I couldn't find any dungeon completions on your profile, on top of having low light, lack of seals and several collection issues. I don't judge you, but commendations shouldn't be what worries you when it comes to guardian ranks.

5 RepliesThis isn’t a solo game no matter how hard you want it to be, it’s a multiplayer game, it’s on you if you want to play solo, doesn’t make sense to complain you can’t do multiplayer stuff solo in a multiplayer game.

If you want to increase your score fast run raids, Hero Nightfalls, or vanguard playlist. Most people give out commendations there. PVP and Gambit are a waste of time for this.

I wouldn't care though if loadout slots weren't now locked behind a 460 commendation score in addition to the need to solo flawless a legend lost sector AFTER you've grinded a minimum of ~230 matchmade activities (2 seems to be the most common number of Commendations earned per activity in most cases, though I've gotten 1 or 0 plenty of times) to get your commendations. Awful change they made there.

I mean it’s just a number really. The only benefit are extra loadout slots. But in a sense you really only will probably use like three or two load outs. If it’s validation you need or proof of being a “good” player you really don’t have to worry about commendations. Just show people what you’re made of basically when playing in a group.

As a person with rank 9 and 3,605 commendation score, I agree that commendations should not be tied to guardian ranks. With that said, you will have to stop being a solo player if you actually want to climb these ranks. I say this while being aware that at some point I will have to solo all of Spire of the Watcher to reach rank 11.

My problem is that the ranking is tied into really boring content. I'm sick of grinding strikes and battlegrounds. I preferred just having my light level above my character. At least I felt like I was getting somewhere.

I play solo the 98% of time and I have 1400 commendations Why would you care about Guardian Ranks, if you are a solo player? When they're locked behind Dungeons that majority don't own and tasks that some won't ever do out of boredom? If you want to see how good a player is you have Destiny tracker and stuff like that, Guardian Ranks are the equivalent of Prestige levels in CoD, but again, as a solo player, why does this even matter to you lol?

3 RepliesYep I can confirm this. Commendations are also cheating. I was shot through a wall with heavy ammo right at the start of crucible match the other day by a yellow commendation card.

Idk why but gambit seems to be pretty generous to solos though it’s a slog for sure 😂

The ranks don't do anything. There's no emblem, no cosmetic, nothing... If you play solo, why do you care about some random number? Why would some random arbitrary number make players feel bad?
