Jailbreak plot hole and missed opportunity
Just before the final boss fight, you can see Amanda in the window of the control room. Once you go into the boss room, if you turn around you can see a 2nd window on the back of the control room. During the boss fight, the tormentor will teleport up there and watch you through the window as you kill adds.
So basically, rather than killing Amanda, the tormentor just sits up there and chills with her, sipping Nezcafe and watching us fight.
Had the tormentor killed Amanda, it would have made her death more impactful as it would have been our fault for not killing it fast enough. Also, it would have been a much cooler death scene if we saw the tormentor pick her up and drain the life out of her or slash her with its scythe and toss her body in front of us. Then we could have gotten a final scene where we hear her last words before she passes and the base explodes.
Additionally, this could have caused some drama between us and Crow since he would have likely blamed us for Amanda's death.

6 RepliesAnother plot hole, mithrax says in the beginning that we can't use our sparrow bc it would alert them of our presence, then not 5 sec later we see mithrax and Amanda performing a literal airstrike on their front gates, loud as hell.

Bungie sucks at story telling , I am no writer, I have some ideas but have no interest in making it my life But, Imagine if the guardian did something wreckless to get Amanda killed, and Zavala told you to get out of his sight(in a less nice way) The blackfleet arriving was supposed to be the 2nd collapse, an apocalyptic event, the reason that Humans,Eliksni and Cabal banded together to figh,because we all 3 feared it Instead they destroy a few fighters, and the pyramids and Traveler have a light scuffle, then nothing, wow , that was uneventful, alot of NPCs should have died, what if Saint died while Osiris was chasing Calus, what if Ana and Ikora died , what if Eris and Drifter died in each other's arms , what if Missrax lost Eido and most of his house while he was helping us This could gave been Bungies Revenge Of The Sith,Empire Strikes Back and even Infinity War, but it turned out to be Bungies I don't know, name any one of the recent big budget flops -
While i fully agree with you OP , i can't stop laughing right now because i imagine the Tormentor sipping Nezcafe with Amanda while watching us fight the adds haha

I literally thought that was going to happen for that entire fight. But then the tormentor just teleports away for a coffee break or something then teleports back and dies. I was expecting it to kill her, but then I just kill it normally and she just dies to a random self-destruct explosion.

I have zero additional animosity towards anyone after her death. It was just incredibly out of the blue/poorly done. This would have been much more impactful, imo.
