You might have gone too far with the difficulty bump, Bungie.

The game needed a difficulty bump. I could charge through older content without breaking a sweat. But with Lightfall and with leveling up having been made irrelevant because every new activity set at least five and often more above your level, including 25 in some cases, you've gone too far. I do most everything solo. I can beat content at five over my level but 25? There are a handful of people who can do that routinely. I'm not one of them. Nor to I aspire to be one. There has to be a reasonable middle ground. After a long day, I'm rarely in the mood to butt my head against content that's always going to be 20 to 25 light above me no matter how much I level my characters up.

    • I agree. I've said this before, but I think that Bungie should have expanded the Master difficulty rather than just making everything more difficult. They are driving away the casual players who don't want a challenge all the time.

      • I agree. The game's difficulty was pretty close to the ground prior to LF, and now it shot up like a rocket. I actually believe that there should never be a power handicap in any activity outside of day-1 contest modes in raids. I say this for one simple reason: I find it pointless to make good builds if the enemies I'm fighting are forcing me to hide because of the artificial/direct damage increases they get and the decrease players get. Most player loadouts are aggressive builds, allowing them to basically slay out and destroy entire armies, which is the whole fantasy god-like guardian game style that Bungie made us believe we would have, considering the gods we have killed in the story, but the rank-and-file enemies in even Legend NFs now are so powerful that they are more threatening than any raid boss. I understand that we asked for a harder difficulty, but Bungie seriously needs to work on moderation. Too many things in their games have always either been too weak compared to something replaceable, or too strong, and the same goes for difficulty. We wanted a reason to make our builds--not a reason to hide behind cover only to still die to enemy explosive projectiles that can cause damage through a physical barrier. On the other end, we don't want to thrash everything before our builds get to do anything. With all that said, I hope they start to properly moderate the game's difficulty, and add complexity over raw damage alterations. Doing more damage with this, or doing less damage *because* of this is boring. Outside of patrol, there is no point to making builds outside of what we are basically forced to use in end-game (hell, even SEASONAL playlists) or else we are basically playing a From Software game.

          • I have tried 3 separate times to complete the final mission this week. I cannot . I died 22 times, I get to the last phase of the last boss and an add that wasn't behind me 2 secs ago teleports in and kills me, so I start all over. Who thought that would be fun. I do not have the time or the patience for this nonsense, and don't get me started on the platforming and shitty respawns when you die. I hope everyone there is having a good laugh, including streamers, I have unsubscribed from a bunch lately since I found out they are just paid bungie trolls. I loved witchqueen and came back because of it, but I should have known that Bungie would lie again right after, Rip us off on the price. I blame myself, Bungie is like that toxic girlfriend I know I should break off with but I really need her to f up to do it. Bungie you done F;d up peace out

            I just finished 2 runs of arms dealer on heroic level (the lowest). The new layout etc is good, I like it. However, thresher ships can honestly gtf. Those rockets have INSANE tracking. I watched 2 chase a team mate and they were like a pair of angry wasps twisting and turning. And the turrets? My god they can dome you from across the map through a 1 pixel wide gap. I'm just an average player skill wise, although I have an ungodly number of hours in the game. I expect to die occasionally in harder content. But this was mental. Gilded conquerors, kingslayers, everyone dying over and over. It wasn't fun for anyone, it was a slog. And this was lowest level nightfall! Done my 2 runs for pinnacle and that's it, not going to run this again, which is a shame as the map changes etc are good.

            • Most games have selectable difficulty for a reason. But instead of giving players who wanted harder stuff some options, they just cranked it up and broke off the knob. I'm not interested in being "on" all the time; it's exhausting and gives me a tension headache. When I want to do harder -blam!-, my clan is generally game. But most of my time is solo casual. Partition is -blam!- stupid. Neptune is -blam!- stupid. Hero nightfall is -blam!- stupid.

            • The level disadvantage is over tuned but the issue I have with the changes is the increased health and flinch resistance of enemies. I feel like it made all activities but particularly higher level activities just boring. Did a legend nightfall last night and it didn’t feel hard, just was time consuming and boring. There is though also the side effect of that I resent low skilled teammates more. If you’re dying in nightfalls, strikes, and defiant BG it gets tiering to have to constantly revive and protect such players and it means things just take even longer and I end up resenting teammates for not being more skilled when I wouldn’t have cared in the past.

              • I did my 5 legend lost sectors and 1 solo flawless legend run at 1780 . And yeah I got nuked a bunch but eventually I learned how to survive . And that was me 50 lvls below . Now I had to take my time and be overly careful . I think a lot of the prob people have with the difficulty isn't the fact that its more difficult it's the fact that it's pointless difficulty it was just a mere " turning of the knob" as was stated in a past twab . So basically the only thing they did was make us squishy and the enemies more beefy and hit a lot harder oh and they damn near never miss . But outside of that the mechanics are the same ther eis nothing to learn other than where to find cover for extended amounts of time or cheeses on YouTube to progress . It wasn't like u died because u over extended or miss read the battle field it's more like u walk into a room and bang one shot dead . That's so cheap man it was as if no thought went into that plan at all.

              • I just sat through one of the most miserable nightfalls I have ever done in my 8 years with this game. This game plays for crap at 1830 and above and whoever is “tuning” this difficulty should grab a broom and let someone who knows what they are actually doing take over. Setting players up for failure is not “difficulty”…it’s just lazy programming. The turrets The pod drops The damage coming from absolutely now where It’s just bad. I played better games than this in 1988.

                  The change has essentially forced many who have lives outside Destiny to main one subclass, which I've never done. By now in past seasons I would have all 3 subclasses capable of solo flawless MLS or NF. As it is I don't have one yet, and not sure I really care any more.

                  • Find I do less now because it takes longer to do those things that didn't take much time at all. I'm not going to stick to a certain build to get through stuff. I want variety, and with the weapons and armour there is plenty; now it's just limited usage. Bungie needs an overhaul, how out of touch can you be. It's all in the forum's, they just don't want to listen, but they do to streamers apparently.

                    • I thoroughly agree with this comment. I've been playing Destiny since Destiny 1 came out. Since Destiny 2 arrived, with each DLC the activities got longer and more demanding of time. I've not objected to this because there was always sufficient content that I could enjoy. I am an older player, I have grandchildren, am involved in a third career I thoroughly enjoy and a small farm that places demands on my time. I enjoy Destiny 2, or did, as a welcome escape where I can relax with it for an hour, or occasionally 2, most days. I am also a solo player because most players are not interested in joining a casual player who exits after my length of time. With this new DLC, there is little that I can enjoy, even regulator strikes take nearly an hour to complete. I accept that I will not ever have lay raids, nor obtain the cool raid gear, and I will not play the dungeons, or even some of the activities needed to get exotic weapons. Again, I've accepted this because I have a full life and Destiny 2 is an entertainment. But now, Bungie has made the game so unrewarding, and not fun any longer, for me and people like me. This game is for people who, for whatever reason, have 6-9 hour every day to play the game. I do not. We am angry because I paid for this DLC and now find the creators have turned their collective backs on me. I would dearly like Bungie to do an evaluation of players to see how many play like I do. I may be wrong and indeed, most spend 8 hours every day playing. But I suspect, in fact, there are a lot more that are like me. If that is true, I ask Bungie to make some changes so there is enough content for casual players like me to enjoy, find challenges, earn rewards and stay the course. Destiny 2 has been a terrific game and I would like to continue enjoying it. But if Bungie thinks I will choose the he game over my grandkids, my wife, my home and my professional interests....think again. If something does not change I think a lot of players will leave the game and no one wins under those circumstances.

                      • While the few who comment about how the game is still easy...have been playing it harder than I can ever in Warframe.. I agree that the difficulty bump is too far, it sincerely pushes players away let alone it has not allowed Lance to complete for how long it takes to grind and continue. The difficulty since last Season and now, is just abhorrent and Bungie has been failing in their management and listened to the wrong people how to improve the game.

                          I'm not that bothered about the Neomuna difficulty levels, it gives me a chance to try out different builds and guns apart from those threshers. The Nightfall playlist needed a tweak, but I do think they may have gone over the top a bit with up to legendary difficulty levels. My biggest gripe is the Vexcalibur legendary mission, Omg the level of damage you take is phenomenal. I ran the Revision Zero Legendary solo flawless last season, and although not super hard, it was challenging in parts but still fun. I don't consider myself a top player but I've managed to earn my conquer title and various other stuff. This mission is on a complete different level, the amount of yellow bar adds you get constantly thrown at you is ridiculous. The design of the start of the mission, where your fighting in such small spaces with so many minotaurs is crazy. I tried running it with a fireteam and made it to the pit of death section and quit with frustration. I don't think I'll be getting that catalyst this season, and I think that's a shame that something like a catalyst is unattainable to so many players, due to it being over tweaked on difficulty and being made even harder due to hoard like mission design.. I'm not gonna give up yet, one of my pals was slightly underpowered, but I have to say that it's not fun, and I can see a lot of players stop playing this season due to certain difficulty tweaks..

                          • The game is not harder. You guys were simply too used to rolling through everything with garbage guns, 2 primary weapons and 40~ stat armor. I'm still steamrolling through everything, because guess what? I already had good loadouts, and was used to making them. There's literally no way the game is as hard as you people keep complaining about if I can solo flawless legend lost sectors in 5~ minutes Which is on average 1-2 minutes longer than my averages before Lightfall.

                            • Only issue I have currently is the leveling system. First time in destiny history it's taking weeks of non stop pinnacles to not be soft in a new zone. They raised the bar to high. Commendation system is a joke. I also hate as someone pointed out, going to farm and then helm. The system set up to go back and forth for dialog is ridiculous.

                              • So, let me get this straight. Because you cannot breeze through what is supposed to be the game's most difficult content, as your "rarely in the mood to butt my head" line suggests, the solution is to make the game easier [I]for everyone[/I]? Maybe you should consider playing at a lower difficulty until you feel up to the challenge? The game is already very easy - people who consider the campaign "brutal" to solo on legendary difficulty genuinely baffle me; it is far from what many other games would consider hard - and making it easier still would just continue what has historically been a steep road towards a lowest common denominator (AE, anyone?). I am 42 bloody years old. If I can do most of the game's supposedly highest level content without so much as breaking a sweat, so can anyone, including you. Even if you have to practice a bit first.

                                • I don’t think its tremendously hard but my gripe is the deltas they added in for the more people on your team. Isn’t the endgame supposed to me you and your friends tackling hard content. Granted they csn still do that, but why would they when this game actively pushes you away from that and instead says its easier to solo.
