You don’t increase Challenge and not rewards…
Bungie you handled this so backwards.
There are already such few places in the game where the rewards feel like worth the challenge, and now looks like there will be even less.
You even acknowledged there are changes to rewards coming which means YOU KNOW they need to change.
So why on earth would you increase difficulty while that faulty reward structure remains?
1 step forward, 2 steps back as always.

1 ReplyWhat needs to happen... Power grind needs to go completely. Gone. Instead give engrams in each playlist that reward higher chance of high stat armor and weapons and exotic armor. So if I play three games of gambit instead of getting a plus one pos power level I have a chance at getting a good peice of gear for once. It won't happen though cause this game company is ran by corpo trolls.

They did increase rewards. More materials dropping, and later on, adepts are getting enhanced traits, making them far more valuable.

5 RepliesI don’t mind the idea of it but it sounds like vanguard ops is going to be harder than normal raid or something like that… it just read very poorly. Rewards need adjusting. Can we get targeted farming already? Division has this down years ago. Location specific targeted farming.

4 RepliesYou do when all the casuals left and you aren't expecting to pick up very many for next year. The only people left playing Destiny are hardcore players who already have everything. Might as well just jack up the difficulty because there isn't going to be any real incentive to replace all the weapons I have with marginally different ones anyways...

You do, if you're a lazy dev, and view adding difficulty to existing content as 'new content'. You do, if you're a greedy / incompetent dev that can't do better. Seems like a typical day at Bungo...underwhelm and disappoint. Budget tier dress sim. Budget underwhelming nasty greedy insidious entity.

What's fun is that the majority of these posts have legitimate arguments, while the majority of the replies have none.. I've lost count of how many of them read "skill issue" or the like.. While I agree that a lot of these complaining posts aren't really hitting the nail etc.. you don't get so many of them if there isn't a problem.. for me that problem is limitation. Bungie needs to stop pushing the "play your way" rubbish if it isn't really an option. I have no issues with the level of difficulty being raised at all.. but doing that by favouring weapon types and pretty much disabling subclasses is artificial difficulty. Destiny 1 was harder than Destiny 2.. exotics dropped much less.. there were still burns and damage bonuses to certain weapon types.. but if I didn't run the correct subclass or weapon I wasn't penalised so much.. now in lightfall I'll do 25% less damage to everything in pve playlists and 50% less damage to unmatched shields in ALL pve! This rubbish wasn't needed in Destiny 1 for it to be difficult, and I always felt powerful despite that. I genuinely miss this feeling, and exotics feeling powerful. I'd actually appreciate being able to play to my own style and strengths rather than having those chosen for me.

I see a lot of concerns for this. Rightfully so. Maybe just maybe start voting with your wallets to force Bungie into making the changes the players want to see? Lightfall and the season pass has been available to preorder since August 2022. I guarantee most people commenting in this thread have preordered and even went as far as booking annual leave. Once the campaign is complete and the new Raid transitions from a blind run experience to a Pokemon simulator what then? RNG levelling, chasing light level and Artifact levels, restricting loadouts, Champions, lifeless patrol spaces, rotten core playlists, replaying the same seasonal story for tidbits of dialogue, double resetting vendors to get Ritual weapon and ornaments, horrible drop rates in Lost Sectors, half of your vault unusable outside of patrol, and so on…

I can’t imagine it becoming crazy difficult for even the casual players, maybe excluding end game content. Correct me if I’m wrong but did they say exactly whats being changed in terms of difficulty? I may have missed it.
