Don't make weapon crafting even more scarce.

https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/article/lightfall-year-ahead I have not come to the forums so fast just to make a post before, until I saw that they were going to make craftable weapons even more scarce??? I spent over an hour typing a post just to have it eaten and not show up at all in the forums or my profile forum activity, so I'm doing this one half-baked. To get to the point, why? Why would you make it more scarce? No, craftable weapons don't take the joy out of getting a god roll. And if there was any issue, the ability to enhance your dropped weapons would have sufficed. Across the board. For all weapons. You dropped this mythical never before seen (in Destiny) crafting system in a 60-100 dollar expansion and you have only used it for raid weapons, SOME dungeons, and seasonal weapons. Aside from Ammit AR2, Syncopation-53, and Taipan, not a single world drop weapon has made it into the crafting repertoire. I've been stiffed for years on certain weapon rolls that are now borderline impossible to even get my hands on and you're about to make it rarer? Please, no. Revert the change. It's awful. I don't want to only be able to craft tacky-looking seasonal weapons, I want to be able to craft every world drop weapon if I wanted to. And I don't. But there are a lot of world drop weapons I want compared to what the weapons the crafting system actually offers me.

  • What I don't get is why, like who asked for more random rolls, it is by far one of the worst aspects of destiny.

I think their new take on crafting is incredibly bad and this has ensured my less engagement with the game. It felt so good to see that little bit of progress with each red border until you eventually had access to the desired weapon roll. I played more because of it. Now it’ll be back to excessive grinds where you’re helpless to improve your chances. Does anyone actually like being helpless like this?

Sad state

      • Weapon crafting is supposed to be an ALTERNATIVE to weapon god roll acquisition, not a replacement. It was becoming so easy to get the best weapons in the game, that RNG felt meaningless after the deep sight drops. Considering the numerous amount of good available crafted weapons on hand per season, it become more and more about focusing on the best crafted weapons and less about anything else. You’ll still be able to craft the available weapons, and you’ll still be able to appreciate a god roll RNG drop. I literally don’t understand the people upset about this. Jeez.

        • I really don't get the argument that crafting weapons makes RNG rolls meaningless... SO WHAT!? Who cares!? RNG is the absolute worst aspect of EVERY VIDEO GAME! When you defend RNG in video games you're just White Knighting for lazy video game developers that sell you RNG as content. There should absolutely be a way to guarantee a drop (with the rolls you want) after a certain amount of time/activity. Whether that is a mercy system that increases your chances after each failure, a token system to buy exactly what you want, or a crafting system, there should be a way. RNG is not a guarantee... EVER. This is the only aspect they have announced for LF, so far, that concerns me. I had really hoped they would expand the crafting system to include armor not reduce the number of weapons available. Getting the stats ratios you want on a suit of armor is ridiculous.

          • You should have seen this coming. Crafted weapons are too strong and have devalued normal weapons. It's better to have less weapons to craft.

Honestly I spent more time crafting guns than I did grinding them. If I couldn’t craft seasonal weapons, I just wouldn’t bother going for them.

D1 had the right idea with gunsmith bounties and leveling up weapons to unlock perks. A system like that with the ability to choose those perks would be ideal, but it'll never happen, unfortunately IMO.

              • I'd personally rather have the potency of weapons controlled on the front end instead of the back end like what happened a little too often last year. Reducing the number of craftable weapons will at least make it so there's s less instances where it feels like that's happening.

              • I played this alt account after the last week of the seasonal story had dropped, I was really holding out to only play it on my main but then I really wanted to have a few things from the season (mostly the LFR). Took me two days to run the season on all three characters. Three weeks to knock out the red borders. This game is empty without RNG. All games that want long-term replayability are, I'm not saying it's a Bungie only thing. But it feels like it's in everything we do. Take away the guaranteed exotics and pretty much everything else is RNG.

It's so good players can't get the rolls they want. It's actually super cringe. Since it would be an unfair advantage for good players to spec into stats and perks they want. While bad players have to stick to bad rolls even though they already get more range because of Negative Skill Rating.

Addendum: With all these classes and subclasses, and 3.0, a supposed overabundance of optimized guns is even less of a problem. Just look at the most used weapons for Crucible, and the most used weapon archetypes for any end game PvE activities. Don't forget, Exotics exist too. Come on, let me craft a Lodbrok or Herod if I want to. Or hell, even let me craft an Allied Demand. Craft freaking everything, even. I paid over 60 dollars being hyped for weapon crafting only to be here at the end of the expansion and you haven't done nearly enough with it. If Destiny is all about the guns, though, then I should be able to get my hands on any gun that I want, with the perks that I want. I will work for it. Random drops as they are right now are a flawed concept, because when was the last time anyone has picked up a Crown-Splitter or Quickfang? You can spend multiple seasons hunting a weapon and it'll only get rarer and rarer because you lose the ability to focus anywhere near those items. Let. Me. Craft. Them. Don't FOMO me. I pay money for this. Edit: If I sound desperate, I am. It's less than two weeks to launch.

                  • All they are really doing is making less weapons craftable. And it sounds like those weapons are actually going to be easier to craft since you will be able to activate deepsight resonance on a weapon if it isn't already.
