Warmind Cells were supposed to be temporary. They have overstayed their welcome in the game by YEARS.

I don't recall seeing a lot of people use them immediately in S10. They really caught on directly after when Ikelos weapons were reissued in S11. Technically they were in their OP state for 4 seasons, but they really only saw use for 3

Bad yardstick. Weapon usage in-game is dictated by the Champion mod system. (Its why people are so fed up with the Champion system right now. Bungie is stubbornly using it as a way to control our loadouts) So by refusing to give certain weapons the ability to stun champions, Bungie has the ability to penalize their use....and discourage people from using them in seasonal and end-game content. Warmind Cells stayed powerful for 18 months until Bungie finally nerfed them into the ground in an effort to pressure us into using Elemental Wells (which landed with a wet splat, and only became really useful with Stasis and Light 3.0 ability regeneration). But Bungie had been suppressing their use for an even longer period by denying the Ikelos weapons the ability to stun champions.

  • Although I agree they were meant to be temporary, the fact is they’re around. They’re a third of the combat mod options along with CwL and Wells. And rage of the warmind… the significant explosion buff, doesn’t kill red bar centurions.

  • Yes, but the point is that Bungie doesn't want us using them. Which is why they nerfed them into the ground.

  • If they didn't want us to use them they should have gotten rid of it when they were sunsetting everything but they didn't. Bungie want us to use them still but the nerfs were too hard

  • That’s not how Bungie rolls.

  • With ikelos weapons being craftable, this would’ve been a great time to add new cell mods. Even if the old ones stayed nerfed or change the old ones. Simple stuff like changing burning cells to apply scorch instead, changing the arc one to jolt, add a mod that spawns wells on warmind cell kills, targets killed while affected by a void debuff spawn cells.
