No one likes the current model of keep everything about he next season secret until the day of release.
The story ended 4 weeks ago, that’s the perfect time to drop a trailer about next season.
It’s been a year if this, lets sunset this model already.

Its literally a lose- lose situation for bungie. They give trailers and teasers its "how about you leave some for release instead of showing everything" They do nothing and leave it all a surprise it's "How dare you not hype it up and keep it secret, we want to know everything". Only silver lining is FAR more people are happy with them leaving things secret until release.

I just don't understand the 0 marketing approach. From a business stand point it has to hurt sales to some degree. I get a large % purchase the season in bulk but still. From a player stand point it feels like we just stumble season to season. "Hey nerds this launched today so go play it. We added the usual but this time its cowboy themed. BUY THE NEW JOHN WICK 4 CROSSOVER EVENT SKINS."

Edited by Morakx: 12/3/2022 8:22:54 AMHate to bring it to you but there simply isn't anything cool to reveal. They would look even more stupid if they did a reveal trailer about the 50th battle pass or "hey, you will be grind ing xp for 200 hours to be ready for GM's for the 20th time! These Bungie seasons are hot trash, theres nothing they can show off. Remember year 2 seasons? I for sure do. They could have made a movie out of every single seasons content. Not even mainly quantity wise but quality with Activision was on a whole different level.

Certain types of secrecy is okay. But flat out not talking about next season, and not hyping it up like they used to… it’s odd. I personally don’t like Bungie spoiling story elements in their content, like they did with Cayde’s death all those years ago. But I do enjoy being teased and fed little bits and pieces to get the hype going. I just don’t think they know how to juggle this and keep a happy medium.
-
Speaking for myself and not the community, I enjoy getting my first look at the season first hand. No spoilers, no streamer videos, just me wandering around exploring the new content.

Edited by SirEman80: 12/4/2022 9:43:52 PMI really don’t know what to think. Bungie used to give WAY too much info about the season with the roadmaps and breakdown of when activities started and how many rewards and it took all of the discovery and mystery out of the season… But… not having anything to promote something before it comes out is just bad for business. You think Marvel ‘needed’ to promote Endgame the year it came out… those resources could have been used elsewhere to help grow the brand. But they realized that generating excitement is important. Im wondering more and more if there might really be some significant internal struggles going on at Bungie where Destiny is concerned. Devs spoke very positively about the last two seasons (albeit cryptically) before they were released and both Haunted and Plunder got only tepid reaction from the players and Plunder especially has been consistently compared to very low points in Destiny’s past. I will say that there was zero reason to save that “epilogue” cutscene for the last week of the season as it didn’t spoil anything about the story or lore for the season. They would have been better served to show it where it made sense narratively in the story… then drop the trailer for the next season with its teases on the Friday before the new season starts. It would be fewer weeks without any new info and would generate excitement for new content.

if it was 100% secret yeah, but bungie already tell us the main enemy, the main npc, the main problem and the main location for the season
-
Give it a rest.

Why do you need to know whats going to happen in a few days ? Do you need a mental preparation ? And if thats to see if you will buy it or not, nothing prevents you feom buying it when it releases. Besides getting spoiled for the sake of being spoiled it doesnt change a damn thing x)
-
Why do so many posts start with “no one likes…” There must be some massive polls going on that I don’t know about. Whether I agree or disagree with your opinion is beside the point. If you didn’t ask me, don’t f’n speak for me. Grow a pair and start the post with “I don’t like…”. Have your own opinion and own it. Otherwise, if you’re gonna speak for me, at least kiss me first.

Yesterday due to not being able to play because of the server issues I decided to buy Eldin Ring-since it was game of the year or whatever, I customized my character and started the game, Then I quit after 10 mins due to boredom. We could all have been brainwashed by Bungie or the game because this happens every time I buy a different game. I come right back to Destiny 🤷🏼♂️
-
It is simply confusing. Someone at Bungie is actually saying "let's create hype by doing nothing!" Meanwhile the team who put together the trailer are quietly crying in the corner.
-
I couldn't give a monkey's tbh. I doubt it'll be as good as it needs to be but I'll give it a fair chance.
-
They don't show off new seasonal content early because they are not proud of the final product.
-
This is the first season I’m not overly hyped for
-
Look. They have nothing to bait and switch With. No gjallihorn no di relevant weapons. So keep. People wondering and buy the crap anyway.
-
There's nothing to show. A reskined 6 man activity + a couple of reskinned armors and weapons. Even Bungie marketing, the king of building hype, is not able to spin this in a positive direction.
-
It was the twab lol That was the sneak peek.
-
I mean the correlation between seasons getting less stuff and not getting trailers is pretty obvious at this point. We know for definite it's not being done to keep us from spoilers as this season was more akin to the Shadowkeep era of a random event with no real pay off.
-
They do it to save money and not have to advertise as much
-
Didn’t everyone want secrets though? They aren’t doing secret missions due to data miners. So they give us a secret season, I like it they should do this more often.
-
If they give it too us over a week before it releases then there’s too much time to analyze it and realize how bone dry the content is and how little we are actually getting. They need to drop it the day of so that you buy it when there is literally even a drop of hype
-
Well the data miners will spoil everything anyways so what’s the point
-
How is it hurting? It’s not making the game worse not having a trailer. You bought the annual pass or Deluxe edition you’re already paid up for it. If you’re waiting for a trailer to buy the season ala carte, you still can as trailers come out during server maintenance and reset before you commit $10.

You don't speak for everyone there champ
