Suggestion: make "normal" difficulty an option for day-1-raids (for non-elitist players) ?

Hey everyone, with the launch of TWQ approaching (and especially the new raid) I have been spending a lot of time thinking about what to expect from the new raid lately. That led me to ponder over the question how I personally feel about day-1-raids and contest mode in particular. tl,dr: Some people love the day-1-raid experience just for the sake of figuring out the mysterious new content offered by a fresh raid with a group of friends, but have no interest in competing against the rest of the world (and the most elite players out there) on who finishes first. Wouldn't it be nice to offer "normal" difficulty as a choosable option right from the start for those folks, but in return exclude them from having a chance in competing for world's first? --- Raids in destiny have changed my understanding of what cooperative content in a video game can look like. Back in 2014, when I learned about the vault of glass I felt an anticipation for the launch of the raid that I can't compare to anything I have felt ever since (regarding video games lol). That anticipation had nothing to do with the urge to beat the raid before anyone else did, but was solely about the idea of figuring out the mysteries and mechanics necessary to beat the activity. Doing so while accompanied by five people I enjoy playing with increased that excitement exponentially. I feel my current problem is, that the majority of people I want to jump into the raid with are not the kind of elitist guardians preped for a contest mode experience - not regarding PL, but skill and loadouts. But still, they are good friends with whom I want to share the experience of beating a raid for the first time. It usually looks like this: we really want to hit the raid as soon as possible, but ultimately get frustrated by the difficulty of contest mode. So we quit after a few hours and reassemble once contest mode gets deactivated after 24 hours. "Normal" difficulty feels fair for the skill level of my group and even though we're feeling challenged while learning and uncovering the raid's mechanics it feels beatable so we keep trying until we eventually succeed. Of course it will be easy for people to respond "get better and beat contest mode" or "well, then just wait 24 h" but i think, it wouldn't hurt anybody if normal difficulty was a choosable option during the first 24 hours after a raid's release. Of course people who would want to run normal mode shouldn't be able to take part in the world's first raid, so that people who want that challenge all have the same chances. Obviously i don't know if something like this would be technically possible in the first place and I doubt it could be implemented for TWQ raid, but this is something I would really love to see for future releases. :) Now, I'm really interested in your opinion. Are there people out there that feel the same about day-1-raids, or is everyone who is not willing to tackle contest mode fine with waiting 24 hours before venturing into the raid on their own? --- note: I hope my grammar wasn't too poor - I'm not natively english speaking... ~ NaiXcross
