No.
Sbmm and trials do not mix.
You call yourself an average player but are also upset you cant go flawless? Flawless is absolutely NOT intended to be reached by average players...bungie themselves have stated this in the past.
Flawless is for the top - the mode is working as intended and as it always has been intended since its inception.
Should the mode be more rewarding for those that cant make it to lighthouse? Absolutely. But lighthouse itself should and has maintained its prestige.
Sbmm would destroy the entire purpose of the mode - it's a tournament style playlist. Not a competitive one. You fight progressively stronger opponents and knock out or get knocked out.

That's not an argument for sbmm, that's an argument for weekly lockouts - however that will likely cause worse problems as these top 500s will then move to the recovery services for those that currently dont
it's a tournament style playlist. Not a competitive one. You fight progressively stronger opponents and knock out or get knocked out.
Except someone with no PvP experience can face someone else with obscene amounts of flawless cards under their belt on the very first match of the card. That isn't progressively stronger that's just oppressive. The matchmaking needs changing from card based to something that can prevent that situation because it happens.

It still happens. Bungies attempt at stopping it had the entire community say no and thus this problem became real
It still happens. Bungies attempt at stopping it had the entire community say no and thus this problem became real
What still happens? A noobie goes into trials and get destroyed? So? They made a mistake and they got rekt for 4 games, hardly a big deal...
-
That noobie isn't going back in trials. They may decide not to even play PvP that's bad.
That noobie isn't going back in trials. They may decide not to even play PvP that's bad.
That's on them. When I start a new game I dont hop into a mode that's intended for the top of endgame, someone jumping into trials as a first time pvp experience isnt something we should be catering towards, they just lack basic common sense and the fault is with them

If its allways been working then explain the numbers dropping every weekend makes 0 sense
-
If its allways been working then explain the numbers dropping every weekend makes 0 sense
I already said why - players that cant make it flawless get practically no loot. That should change. Lighthouse however was, is and always should be for the top. Ruining its prestige is the worst thing bungie could do. D1 had the same system matchmaking wise we have now and was always beloved - the difference is in that game non-flawless players still got much more loot even in failed cards.

It is what it is, you can't stop carries or "account recovery" , account recoveries is just another word for saying get my best mate sweat or I'll hire sweats to do it for me. that is also cheating. stack teams would not have it so easy if their opponents were a mixed bag hence SBMM would be a good idea. the reason you want no SBMM is so STACKS can steamroll over the casuals that attempt to play.

Edited by Stomp: 2/22/2021 9:04:19 AMSBMM benefits no one in a playlist where people are supposed to go 7-0. SBMM always works towards a 50/50 win/loss ratio. SBMM would keep almost everyone from going flawless and the mode would just wither away and die. I imagine the idea was that players would try to get better week after week until they could accomplish a flawless card. The problem is most players either lack the ability or drive to improve. If you lack the ability to succeed in trials then that is one thing, but if you put in zero effort and expect to be rewarded for it then that's a problem in and of itself. The best thing someone can do is play with people better than themselves and improve. Flawless trials runs were never meant to be for the entire playerbase. It's a goal to work towards, not a reward to be handed out. The reason trials used to be better in D1 was because players were rewarded with a massive amount of participation loot. All we get in D2 is 2 tokens for a win and none for a loss, and no trials gear from turning in tokens unless you've previously acquired it through the win rewards. It's a broken loot system. People aren't mad because trials is too hard, not really. They're frustrated because it's difficult and unrewarding. It does no good to lose 20 games in a row and have nothing to show for it.

Those players should be knocking out most others in a tournament style playlist as they are better then most players. No sbmm would not be a good idea, casuals dont belong in the lighthouse. It should be hard for them to get there, no easy rides for anyone, if you want to reach flawless earn it by getting better to the point that you can - and dont think that being inept means you get to choose who you match so you can have a easy time earning loot you couldnt earn like the rest of us....

Edited by PerverseWolf: 2/22/2021 11:26:42 AMRecovs aren't cheating but they're enabling people to get exclusive trials loot that didn't earn it themselves, ruining the prestige of adept and flawless loot.
