Crucible Special ammo economy needs to be nerfed.
Special ammo is too plentiful. How often do you see players running around with shotguns or mountaintop and its all they use during the match? There is no real diversity in gun usage. My suggestions to fix this are as follows.
No special ammo drops on kill.
Return Special ammo boxes in which you actually have to fight over.
Special ammo boxes will only grant two rounds
Any death and respawn will grant one round. If you had two rounds or more when you died you are not granted additional ammo. (essentially preventing people from killing themselves and getting full magazines)

Nah that was terrible, I think a simple fix is to eliminate scavenger mods in PvP and in trials eliminate ammo carryover to the next rounds.

You realize special ammo doesn’t always drop on kill right? The only way to get more special ammo is to kill someone else that already has special ammo. So if you want the other team to be short on special just run double primary and get your team mates to do the same thing.

there was a post on here a few days ago, the authors idea was to make special ammo only drop from primary kills. i am in favor of this, not crates

5 RepliesNah. Bad idea. Then we go back to non-stop teamshooting, which almost everyone hated. A better solution is to make special ammo only drop on primary kills. That way, you HAVE to use your primary if you want to keep up your special usage.

Otherwise get ready to camp the crates. If they removed stacking ammo mods sure and this applies to 6v6 considering 3v3 the ammo economy is fine.

Just make it so scav mods don't work in PvP, Primary kills drop 2 special, Special kills drop 1.

The only issue with nerfing special ammo is that supers will just go uncontested... if I have a vorpal special at least I have a chance of shutting it down... Unless they nerf supers -

Absolutely the worst idea you could have said. Special crates slowed the game down, encouraged camping, put play potential on an arbitrary timer, and punished players who used their primary and special well together. A much better idea would be for primary kills to drop 2 shots or so and special kills to drop one. No ammo is dropped if you don't have a special equipped. That way, you can't get lucky and kill a hoarder to get a crap ton of special and you can't go on special only streaks. You miss and there goes your ammo.

"Let's replicate debatably the worst update ever to be put into Destiny!" Or better idea, go back to D1 if you want that garbage system. It should only be tweaked to only have Special drop on kills using primary ammo, and disable double scavs for PvP.

But wwwhhhhhyyyyy? Don't wanna get shotgunned? Don't get close enough to be shotgunned. If you like your primary that much guess what? At a midrange to long distance a shotgun does nothing but your primary can! Don't like getting sniped? Move unpredictably at all times, slide when approaching a sniper lane, or some you can just ignore if someone is hardscoping it all game. Personally in 2015 this was my first first person shooter I actually played. I went negative for many months but during that time I learnt how to be so aggressive rushing and odd with my movements that I never get sniped in pretty much every match I play. Special ammo is perfect as it is. Don't like it, learn a new play style that results in you not being shotgunned or sniped.

I agree but i didnt like the ammo boxes. . No special drops from players. Spawn with 2 rounds(depending on archetype of weapon) is what i think to be a solid solution.

Didn't like special ammo economy at the end of d1. It would have been a little more understandable if sidearms lost their ammo on death too. But you respawned with 15 shots. Didn't care for waiting for special crates to come in. Heavy ammo was understandable. But the changes to the special economy didn't encourage primary usage. It just promoted sidearm usage.

In d1 PvP when u die u don't get any special ammo. If u want special then u gotta get it from the special ammo crate in each of the matches
