Buffs and change to Handcannon archetypes.
Nerfs to Sniper - likely affecting Console snipers disproportionately.
Some partial backpedalling on 600rpm autos.
More nerfs to Pinnacle weapons.
And yet no mention whatsoever of the statistical overuse of Shotgun, it's archetype breaking perks, special ammo economy allowing unrestricted use, the decimation of the Special competition: legendary fusions and now sniper.
Once more the unaddressed elephant in the room
: Shotgun overuse.

They’re not nerfed because they’re fine how they are currently. The only thing you could really argue is the removal of QuickDraw from shotguns since it lowers the skill gap of shotgunning but QuickDraw is just way too strong of a perk for special weapons imo.
-
1m nerf on max ohko range is understandable but that’s literally it.
-
but they do have an address. it is right around the corner.
-
as they should be. its your fault if youre letting someoje get that close. They can only OHK from 7m at most and are inconsistent. nerf them and they will be ruined.

Cater to casuals! - old
Because they aren’t very good.... -
Destiny has been all about hand cannons and shotguns for years. Look at the maps. All the D2 created maps favor shotguns, hand cannons and close combat. So, I would not expect to see a whole lot of changes in that area. Bungie is obsessed with those to archetypes for some weird reason.

Edited by SScottF 2112: 10/25/2020 12:24:57 AMBetter players tend to want the meta to always be shotgun, hand cannon and sniper. Bungie has gone along with this for much of D1 and D2. We've had hand cannon replaced with other primaries, but other than at the end of D2 we've about always had sniper and shotgun in the meta. Remember that they've messed with shotguns a lot over the years. Typically if they take 1 meter, or 1/2 meter off, that just means that with how fast our characters move, the CQC battles then involve getting closer for a fraction of a second. Maybe the only way they ever really reduced shotgun use was by taking away special ammo at the end of D1. This pretty much forced us to use sidearms. I don't hear the masses shouting that we want only sidearms to spawn with ammo, so you may want to get used to shotguns always being used a lot.

Shotguns weren’t addressed because they’re fine where they’re at... unlike snipers
-
I whole heartedly agree. And thank you for supplying FACTUAL data to support your post.
-
Snipers will still be snapshotting and no flinching. Thank god they fixed Ruinous Effigy....that thing was a problem......😐
-
We forget that bungie is much smaller now. They have to prioritize things. Sadly what we see as an issue might not be that high on their agenda. I’m sure if they could snap their fingers and make the perfect game they would.
-
Shotguns aren’t op. You are just bad if you die to them lol.
-
Just kill the at range dab dab
-
Shotguns weren't addressed because they shouldn't have been. Lately their use and effectiveness has been on par with or below that of snipers. If you get killed by a shotgun, it is your fault. The same can't be said about a sniper. You can do everything right and they can just take your head off through flinch at potentially any range.
-
The only thing wrong with all special weapons is the ammo economy. Get a couple of kills with the right scavenger perk equipped and you can use a special like a primary.
-
Don't worry as kid cannons will start to dominate again for 5 years(being meta) of this franchise. Got to keep the casual scrubs happy.
-
Shotguns are fine, the only outlier being felwinters with its mapping capability. I think the real issue being the abundance of special ammo

-
Actually it's snipers now, but when snipers get toned down, shotguns rise and felwinters is making it hard to defend shotguns... But then again, bungo loves shotguns. Because they are all titans and they eat rocks.
-
Maybe with all the new subclasses being able to freeze could mean shotguns might not be as strong 🤷🏻♂️. I hope I’m right as I’m really not a fan of shotguns in general and worry with the new hunter blink dodge they could be op. I will just wait until I get my hands on it before I throw my toys out the pram.
-
Sniper will still be king. A one hit kill weapon from anywhere is always going to out class a one hit kill weapon from only 8 m. If you’re complaining about shotguns it just shows you have no map awareness.
-
Lol clearly you didn't play during the dust rock meta when every shotgun was a sniper. Shotguns are in a great place right now. Despite fellwinters. My shotgun isn't great and I'm awful at aping but even the good apes don't map like they used to.
-
They weren't all the changes that are coming, they clearly stated before the list of changes that they are just some of the changes coming to some of the weapons. I guess reading can be quite difficult.
-
Shotguns are fine. They have no range and there are a couple options at your disposal to counter rushers. If you get caught with them camping that’s kinda on you.
-
It’s not mandatory to nerf shotguns every season cause you have no situational awareness
-
Actually, they have not addressed any of the issues the community has been informing them of. It is typical Bungie, we hear you but we do not care.
